Thumbs up How to install AEM Fuel Rail (1G&2G)

A Stock fuel rail can dangerously lean out the cylinders causing the
motor to fail when running higher boost. After building a race motor
it was time for me to upgrade my stock rail to a AEM rail. There are
many reasons why I upgraded my old DSM stock fuel rail to a new
AEM unit. It did not only look great in my engine bay but its a must when
running high boost and I've seen it support cars up to 1,000 HP. It
dramatically increases fuel flow with a 1/2-inch fuel bore and its
designed to be a perfect fitment for your DSM with no additional parts
needed. The AEM fuel rail is made to bolt on to the head for easy
fitment and is designed to be used with the stock fuel pressure
regulator and stock fuel lines. The AEM rail can also be used with
-6AN fuel lines and works perfect with my AEM adjustable fuel pressure
regulator (Part# 25-390 required for -6AN lines). The AEM unit even
has a 1/8th NPT fitment on the top of the rail where I placed a
aftermarket fuel pressure gauge for perfect fuel pressure reading. The
AEM rail kit also comes with installation instructions, fittings,
hardware and the o-rings for the injecters. A very important part when
going with a AEM rail is the install of the o-rings. This is a common
reason for fuel leaks when installing the fuel rail.
I made sure I replaced every o-ring when adding the -AN fittings. I
installed both o-rings in to the rail body and not on to the AN fittings.
First I put the o-rings in to the far grove of the rail body, then
pushed the second o-ring against the shoulder of the rail. Then I made
sure it was clear of the dowel pin groove. The AEM fuel rails also come in 3
anodized colours to match your engine bay. Red, blue and silver fuel rails
are also CNC machined using 6061-T6 billet aluminum for durablate and also
includes the AEM logo on the rail. Upgrading my fuel system was a MUST for
my race car and there is nothing like having AEM fuel parts to take care of that.
With great customer service, tech support and reliable parts there is no way
I would look else where for my parts.

How to install a AEM fuel Rail and AEM UFPR with -AN Fittings
This tech article will show you how to replace the stock fuel rail and your stock FPR with a AEM FUEL RAIL and a AEM UFPR using -6AN fuel line/fittings
REMOVING STOCK FUEL RAIL AND FPR
Frist you would want to disconnect the cable from the negative terminal of the battery and Relieve the fuel system pressure.

Disconnect the the vaccum hose from the fuel pressure regulator and slowly disconnect the fuel return hose from the fuel
pressure regualtor, BECARFUL as there will be a small fuel leak coming from the rail.

Unbolt the 2 10mm bolts on the fuel feed side of the fuel rail

Remove the line away from the rail (BECARFUL as there will be a small fuel leak)
Remove the accelerator clip on each injecter.
Unplug and label each injector electrical connector.

Next task will be to remove the 3 bolts that hold the fuel rail to head.
Then slowly lift the rail up and remove the rail with the injectors.

Remove the insulators from the intake manifold and replace them with new ones.
Remove the injectors from the fuel rail by pulling it out also make sure that the o-rings come off with the injector.

Remove the old grommets and o-rings from each of the injectors and replace them with the new ones that come with the rail.

INSTALLING AEM UFPR
Find space near the firewall to install the FPR, so that its away from heat and any electrical wiring.
Place the bracket onto the firewall and mark where the holes lineup to on the firewall
Place the bracket onto the FPR with the 4 bolts that come with the kit.
Using 2 self-trapping screws, place the FPR with the bracket onto the firewall and tap 2 new holes so that it lines up with the marks in the firewall.
Place a block of bolt on one side of the regulator and 2 -6an fittings on the other 2 holes.
Run a new vacuum hose from FPR into the intake manifold.
On the front of the UFPR, you may add a fuel presure sender sensor.

INSTALLING AEM FUEL RAIL
Unbolt the 2 tiny bolts on each end of the rail

With a small paper clip, insert it into the tiny holes on top of the rail and push the pins on each end out.

Slowly remove the end fittings on both sides of the fuel rail.
Replace 2 new o-rings into the rail.
Install the -AN fittings on each end of the rail and place the 2 pins back into the small hole from the bottem
Tighten back all 4 tiny bolts back in to the rail
Install a -6an Male end on each side of the rail

On the top of the rail there is a 1/8" hole for a FP gauge or it can be covered using the small allan screw that coming with the rail kit
Slowly install the injecters back into the fuel rail

Install the 3 spacers onto the rail.

With care slowly place the fuel rail back into the head by placing the spacers between the head and rail.
Line by each injecter into the new grommets on the head
Install the fuel rail retaining bolts and tighten them
Install the accelerator clips back onto each injecter and connect the wire harness to the right injector

Connect one end of a fuel return hose to the fuel rail and the other end into the -6an fitting on the one side of the UFPR.
Clamp all hoses down to where they meet the fittings.
Look over everything that was installed before starting up the car.
Start up car and adjust the fuel pressure to stock specs and look for any fuel leaks before driving and the car.
