Here'a a little info that some of you may know, and some may not. There's this little product out there called "Lucas oil Stabalizer". And i tell you what this stuff is awsome. The first time i tried it i did not think much of it, it was not advertised much and came in a white bottle with out all of the flashy writing or stickers. At the time i was looking for a way to stop the ticking associtated with our cars, and i hated the fact that it sounded like crap. I tried other oil additives and even switched to synthetic, which helped but did not cure the problem.
One day while shopping in a local "Advanced Auto Parts" i came across the stuff and asked a few of the guys that worked there if they had any experience with the stuff. I hate asking these guys anything because half of them don't even seem to have ever picked up a wrench. But low and behold i did anyway, and they all suprisingly gave me good reviews about the stuff and said it was the best oil additive out there. I thought i would give it a try since nothing else had worked.
I bought one bottle (comes in a little over a quart) 4 quarts of Mobil 1 synthetic (expensive but some of the best i have used), 1 fram double guard filter, and a bottle of "Gunk out" engine cleaner.
I used the gunk out engine cleaner for about 5-7 minutes (for those who have not used it you idle the car for about 5 minutes while the stuff is in there) and then drained the oil. I then added the lucas oil in first, then the Mobil one. Not even 1 minute after i started the car, the tick was gone and the engine idled smoother than i ever have seen it idle.
Now three years later, and even after letting the car sit for 8 months at one time, the car still runs smooth at idle, and has no ticking sound. Now for really dirty engines i would use the engine cleaner 2-3 more oil changes to get all that gum out of the valvetrain. I also noticed after using the Oil stabalizer for a few months, when i took off the oil cap the inside of my head seemed to be sparkling almost new. Very clean stuff.
A little more info on "Lucas oil Stabalizer".
The oil stabalizer mixes with any type of oil and any viscocity, and also helps to slow or stop leaks entirely. It conditions worn cylinder walls and can be used up to 60 percent of the oil capacity of your particualar car. I also noticed my car ran cooler (not by a whole lot) after adding the Lucas oil. I also added it to my transmission because we all know how notchy the shifting can be, and it cleared up the bad shifting and the car shifts like new. It even blends with automatic transmission fluid, but i think they actually have an ATF specific fluid additive in the're line of products. They also have several types of fuel system treatments out that i have been experimenting with and i will give some feed back about these products when i use them for a few months.
Bottom line: this stuff works.
Product name: hi performance Lucus heavy duty oil Stabalizer, Lucas upper cylinder Lubricant (fuel system treatment) Lucas fuel system treatment (small bottle)
