I am putting an aftermarket steering wheel on. I got the airbag off and the large nut on the center off too. But the steering wheel is stuck on. Do I need to get a special tool? How do I get it off?

when i needed to get my steering wheel off, my friend and i got on either side, and used the palms of our hands and just hit it at the same time...after about 4 ir 5 hits it popped off.

make sure your hitting at the same time....

steering wheel puller or just like the other guy said. Maybe a rubber mallet or something? If u just start pulling it without anything, watch ur face. It'll pop all at once. The puller is the easiest. :thumb: Just tighten a ratchet and it slides off.

Try using a prying or twisting motion, that worked for me. If all else fails get a big hammer.

go get your biggest buddy you know, lend him a football helmet and have him pull on it. itll come off.

completely different mechanism... You can tilt the column with no steering wheel on.

As for the thread topic, why not just invest in a steering wheel puller? they work on crank sprockets too.
