glass etching...

That looks pretty sweet, how long did it take you to do that/what did you use to do it. And why did you scratch the glass instead of a simple sticker, not that I'm promoting big stickers all over your car, just curious since the sticker would have been much easier.

i would tell you how to do it but im trying to make some extra cash off this and dont want locals knowing how to do it. i think its cool because it kinda blends and it sticks out if you look at it just right. its forever unlike a sticker that looks bad after a few years. the only thing that sucks is if you mess up because its forever LOL...

Etching is fun.
Did you use acid or sandblast?

This is what I made for my husband:

What do you mean, this is not a secret process. Anyone that wants to do this just has to go on Google for 2 minutes. The money you make doing it is for the artistic touch and the liability on your shoulders when/if it gets messed up, not the secret process.

+1 i just googled it and found several pages on how it's done and how to do it at home with both acid and a sandblaster!

If it is done mildly it looks good in my opinion . I have never never never liked it when I see cars with the stickers . If it is a honda , chevy , ford , whatever . I do not see the point in putting the big ass windshield sticker that says the brand name . But I do like this and would not add to it . Keep it simple . Nice job .

The op did not say it was a secret . The op wants do make a little extra cash for doing it where they live . There are no secrets to be kept especially since the internet .

Don’t get me wrong, I cant stand one of those big white H’s on the back window of all the Hondas running around here, at least with a frosted vinyl you can achieve that etched glass look. It looks really good on tinted windows, building interior glass windows and mirrors. Good thing about vinyl or a decal is if you mess up you make a new one and don’t have to worry about buying a new rear glass window for someone. Especially if you are trying to make some money on the side, you could be spending it all on a new piece of glass if the customer hates it or you mess up. Hope you are practicing on smaller items. Good luck with the side money and the logo looks good. :thumb:

go to joann fabrics, get some glass etching cream, get some contact paper, do a stencil, place it on window, apply glass etching cream, let sit follow directions on bottle, wipe off, and then hose of the rest. learned it in graphic design class in high school

x2. Make sure to wear icky clothes. If you get it on your clothes, it is acid and will make holes. Also get a xacto knife!
