I like the plain silver ones better, but i have this feeling that they are very heavy. 3g 17's are around 21 pounds. I'm still looking for weight on the 4g's

Wheel weight.... unless your car is strictly drag I wouldn't worry about wheel weight. At least thats my opinion. Just spend a little extra money and make your engine more powerful to compensate for the wheel weight. There is no reason why you can't have the looks you want and the power you want.

26.2 lbs each and this is rim only for the 18"

taken from 4g.com weighed on a digital scale 3x

That's kinda hefty. But that pic and this topic is for the 17" I believe. I'd guess with that weight that the 17"s are around 22.5-24.5 lbs. Not to crazy, but I'm going to hold off for a lighter aftermarket I think. SOmething in th e17-20lb range max.

I actually had the same kind of IDEA on my car. Was at SATAN getting parts a few days ago and took pictures of the stock wheels on a SPYDER.

For those about to ROCK, We salute you. :hellyeah:

by the way, the tire size on those is 235/45R18

This is an old thread but I have something new to add. I have a 97 Talon AWD with the stock 17 inch wheels.

To see what the car would look like with 4G wheels, I photoshoped it with the 4G 17 inch wheels.

Some time later I came across a set of these same 4G wheels, with good tires, for only $127. Seemed liked a deal too good to pass up. When I mounted them I discovered that the tires rubbed slightly against the suspension knuckles. Not much extra clearance there. Measuring the two wheels, I found that, with the 4G wheels, with 225-50-17 tires set about 1/4 inch inward as compared with the 2G wheels with 215-50-17 tires. That is just enough to cause the tires to rub. Never occurred to me that the stock clearance would be that small.

Offset. Size and bolt pattern are only part of what to look at.

Just an update to my post last year. I tried some 4G, 17 inch, wheels on my 1997 Talon AWD and discovered that, due to the wider rims and tires, the tires rubbed slightly against the suspension knuckles. Recently I made some mearurements and determined that the front wheels would fit fine but that the rears would require a 5mm spacer for proper clearance. I ordered the spacers and installed them with the 5mm spacers only on the rears. This solved the problem.
