my cars got the infinity sound system, will this affect anything if i change the OE receiver with an aftermarket one? i know DSM's got that little sticker on the window that says the audio will not work if removed. will this affect anything?

putting in a new deck will bypass the stock amp. All speakers (not including the tweeters) will now run off of you new deck. The only reason why the stereo wont work if you remove it(mainly just the stock deck) is because you need to input a code to get it to work. So if you buy a new deck there wont be any problems

so if i replace the stock receiver i won't have to mess with the stock amp or anything like that? it'll just hook up and that'll be that? why wont the tweeters work? what do i have to do for them to work?

You have to wire the tweeters in yourself if you want them to work. The new receiver only has output for four speakers so you either need to double up on a set or you could run a different amp. I believe there is a write-up on how to wire the tweeters in the tech section, but it might just have been a thread.

The trim thingy by the sterio/hvac controls pulls off then undo the 4 screws that hold the deck in. You might have to hack the wire loom or you might be able to get a converter harness, I am not to sure if any harness' are avalable.

Make sure you get a wire harness for the aftermarket receiver, you'll need it to connect to your factory harness to your new receiver or you could just cut, splice and connect like I did.. You can get it @ Best Buy, Circuit City, Walmart, Brandsmart USA ...
