is there any 3" or 3 1/2" speakers that would fit in the top dash spot on 99 Eclipse? i need to replace my stock infinity tweeters. thank you

i can almost fit a Rockford Fosgate 3.5" mid/tweeter in the opening, the terminal posts get in the way though. one of these days when i get bored enough i might just have at it and make them fit in there.

I tried to post a quick tech article about this but it never made it.....

Ebay Bose 3 1/8 inch speakers. Remove old ones, use ascrew driver and gently pry up. Now look at the botom and notice that the grill is held on with four tabs. bend the tabs up and remove grill. You will have to stretch the grill around outside edge with pliers to make it a little larger. Fit the new tweeter in and gently reshape the grill with a small hammer, tap around edges, and bend the tabs back. Now solder a 22 micrlofarrad cap to the red leg of the tweeter. This is known as a crossover capacitor, it only allows high frequencies to pass and will protect your new tweeters. Cut the spade connectors off of the wiring harrness, solder the red to the red and then the other. Put them back in - sound GREAT!.

SORT OF.......

Actually I recommend a speaker that is a drop-in replacement, instead of gutting your old tweeter down to the cage. Personally I like the KISS method better (Keep It Simple Stupid) and a LOT of the questions newbees post are "What kind of tweeter will fit" - that is the question I was trying to answer.
