I almost felt ashamed to call myself a part of this wonderful little community after looking at my avatar pic so I decided to do something about it. I know it's not super duper fly or anything, but I don't feel nearly as ashamed as I was. So here's the new one. Compared to my profile pic....much better Notice the lack of dirt on the susp. mounts. I need a better pic...but it works.

I have an automatic and a manual. They both only have one ECU and nothing that looks like a second ECU around it.

Checkmate!
You win on that Slippi, lol. Ya Zero's got one bad to the bone engine. I think Esigonet-esi has to be the best, streetable engine, if thats what you call it (IMO). But overall Zero has definatley got it hands down.

nah... i got a little happy with timing during street pulls with the last setup and blew it before i hit the dyno . Oh well you live and you learn! Right after I break this motor in I am heading straight to the dyno. Most of the changes are going to be visual changes of the engine bay. I am changin up the v/c, I am going to be running a B&R breather tank, Polished aluminum interooler pipes. I will be installing my coilovers and new tires as well. I will also be refinishing the volks!

, yup, you know me well. Bling for me? Ha ha, nope. But its gotta go

Here's a couple of crappy pics just to get the idea.

These are off my video camera cause my regular camera pooped out. It was kinda thrown together for the SO, but the water pump pulley fell off on the dyno 2 days before the SO (but got 345.7whp on that pull). Can't say I've seen that happen before. Wiped out the intake valves on the decel. Waiting for valves from SBR (who I no longer will reccomend. Too many times back to their old ways).

Oh yeah, Mark Peachy exhaust mani (qucksilver99 on 2gnt)

Ha ha ha, yes that's right Zero. I know you can appreciate it. Even in that crappy colorless pic you can tell. Its a 6x8 PWR in-line unit, And it works wonderfully. Ambients Saved space in the front for more air flow into the engine bay.

I'm in that group that finds IAT's to be highly important. Keep things cooler, have more power. Plus that unit has like near zero pressure drop (OK not that good, but you get my drift). My system consists of the intercooler, a holding tank (I'm using a Honda windshield wiper tank right now, lol. I didn't decide on a design yet, so I just threw that on there. turboglenn has already said he can make the box, as soon as I get him dimensions), a small FMIC (hidden in the front air damn duct on the passenger side. Not necessary but a little insurance), a bosch pump and a bunch of 3/4" lines. I haven't set it up for ice yet, but as you know, that would be even better.

The turbo is the Borg Warner sc366 with an .86 AR. Yeah she's a bit big (better pics);

But I'm doing all I can to help spool up (Hence the Mark Peachy shortie manifold). The turbo itself has spool characteristcs of a BB turbo but with some really nice torque and power curves. The Honda guys take this turbo over 800whp (well above what I am shooting for). So we'll see how this all works out.

I got on the dyno with it couple days before the SO. I had big time dyno demons attack. Goofy crap like sensors go bad, wires falling off, boost gauge lines falling off. But the best was the last pull when we finally got her started on tuning. Did a couple of pulls on low boost 280whpish, 303whpish, 330whpish. You know starting to bring her up. The next pull, at about 5k something rolls out at me while I'm watching. Can't quite figure it out, but the car is still pulling. By the time I figured it out, my tuner Matt had done a full pull. It was the water pump pulley ! Talk about your dyno demons. The pulley fell off in the middle of the run and the timing belt held onto the shaft that was left behind to put down 345.7whp, lol. Needless to say, that was the last pull. She popped on the decel and I'm now waiting for SBR to get my freakin' valves to me (just the intakes popped).

So we got a little fun coming up.

MB

And rstare, yeah, I gotta do crap different. I'm funny like that, lol.

That was at 22psi but it is skewed. Because of the belt the timing went funny. Matt noticed it during the pull but the AFR's were fine and the EGT's were fine etc so he just pulled through it.

Also. I am running stock cams until I decide what cams I'm gonna want. Right now I'm leaning heavy to the Crower 2's NA.

Mark this is just scary because I had the same plan of running those PWR inline water to air intercooler when I was building my 420a for boost for the same reasons you just said. The thread about fst91dsm I asked him about his setup because he ran one and he said it he ran the same size you have the 6x8 and he ran 10.01. If your going for a car that will ever see the street mark you don't need that fmic what you need is a heat exchanger. Pretty much a fmic type idea but your not cooling the air your cooling the water. Installation is a lot easier because they're usualy only an inch thick and have either water line input and out put nipples on either the same or opposite sides your choice. The bosch pump is def the way to go too it can pull and push so you can place it anywhere as opposed to that red and white one you see all the time that can only push water and has to be placed below the water source. I am still going to be using this style cooling method on tsi as 1fstdsm said they went .8 secs faster from switching to ice water water-air vs air to air . That's awesome that you got the car to run 22psi even though you had some minor setbacks sounds like your on the track to a pretty dam quick car.

On a side note I found this in the picture section just now. I hope the owner comes and tells us a little bit about it cause I'm def confused His profile says it's a gst but it's obviously a 420a and yet the manifold looks like a 4g63 ebay manifold and I don't see a wastegate??? None the less probably my favorite just because of the originality while still being something I could see a regular person building aka not dsm zero type car lol
