Is there any big differences between the two models?

Im more interested in the spec 2 because it matches the TT im got better. ?

Profec B Spec II improves on the original profec B in the following:

1. no more guesswork on boost, all digital adjustments as opposed to "more or less" dialed in boost

2. Built in Boost Meter.

3. Overboost protection: will revert to stock boost if it senses overboosting based on your setpoint (i.e. will not go over 17psi if you set it a 17PSI)

I have the Spec II and i like it alot. With this, I had to read the manual coz the "% system" on setting up boost is new to me, it takes getting used to.

if ur all about matching ur new style greddy tt.. then just get the profec b spec 2.. :shhh:

but it has been proven for years and years.. that the old style profec b is very good in boost control.. for all sort of applications and setups.. its easy to setup and yet very affordable..

the profec a.. wel.. i havnt heard too much good thigns about that.. at least saying the profec b is a better purchase..

Its not as hard as people think it is to work. Its basic to say the least. Its almost like doing tuning. You make a couple wot runs in 3rd and it basicly will program itself. All you need to do is turn a nob to set the boost, and if you want an 'Overtake boost' then that too. I have never had any problems with it. And I enjoy the digital boost guage that is built in.

I guess you have never used a blitz unit that is easy...you dont have to make any runs..but whatever works right?

either profect b I or II will work great for you. I* has been proven and II is now. ive used profect I and loved it, very nice and easy to use. Im currantly about to buy a profect II in my new gsx for the simple fact that it will match my guages more. either one is great. comes down to style. i also like that it reads boost in psi and it has the warning.

I'm in the process of researching this Profec B Spec II and still not finding what I need. I currently run the first Profec B, and I cant set boost over 25 psi even with a 20 pound spring in the Tial. Has anyone run a Profec B Spec II to over 30 psi, and what spring do you use. If anyone has this info from personal experience I would certainly appreciate it. :) Until then my searching will continue...

I have a spec II and I like it but the adjustments are still "more or less" in percentages which makes no sence to me. If it reads boost and has a gauge, why can't it be set by boost? I want to set the knob and have it read 15 psi, rather then set a number, in my case 35%, to achieve 15 psi...

Not to answer your question, but I'm running a Tial 40mm and with the hi boost knob turned to around 2 o'clock, I see around 1.4 to 1.5 kg/cm2. I havn't tried to go any further than that, but I would guess I would be in the same boat as you are. I had always heard the max for the spec 1 was double wg spring pressure. I have a .8bar spring so max for me in theory is around 23-24 psi.

Haha. That's funny. I have mine set at 26% with a 10% gain and that "equals" 15 psi. The thing htat pisses me off about it is that if you wanna run your set boost, you have to cycle through the modes, otherwise if you try to floor the car, you'll hit the warning and the limiter will set you back down to stock boost....Or maybe it's just mine that does that.

I had also heard the 2x WG spring idea as well... But in going from a 13 pound spring to a 20 pound spring, and from a delta gate to a tial, I didnt get any more boost capacity of the profec. :thumbdown On the high knob, all the way down is 20 psi, and half way up is 23, all the way up is 26, LOL. Awesome boost controller otherwise, extremely simple to use. I'm not liking what I'm hearing about the spec 2 so far...
