Alright, I was pumping gas as usual, and when I was done I shut the gas door(apparently a little too hard) and it went in further than normal, but still locked and stuff. However, now when I use the lever in the car to open it, it doesn't open by itself, you have to have someone pushing on it while you pull the lever to get it to open. I haven't looked in there to try and find exactly what broke, but I was just seeing if this has happened to anyone else and what you did to fix it.

TIA,
Shannon

Yeah, it happened to me when i borrowed my girlfriends tercel for the day, gassing it up, heard something hit the ground when i closed the door but thought nothing of it, about to drive away, use my better judjement and find the stupid little clip on the ground. Had to strech like a mo fo just to push the hatch open with my fingers while pulling the lever.

Its that stupid little clip, sounds broken to me. i think being bent would still make it kind of work, or jam even worse. either way, cheap fix.

thats how mine is,
just when i finish pumping gas, and close the lid, i press on the hinge side, and it opens back up alittle, so when i pull the lever, till pop open

The door dosnt pop open when i hit the lever. my question is i heard theres a spring that breaks. Is is a spring in the lever or in the tank door flap ? This is getting on my nevers

where does the spring go , heres pic

Enough light, I'll bet. Not like under a sheet.

I bet you could just find a spring at the hardware store that'd work as well.
