Restore Engine Lubricant?

I saw an add in SCC for this stuff. Its pretty cheap, and I was gonna get some and throw it in the laser. Lord knows what kind of build up my 12 yr. old engine has on it. Has anyone heard anything about it and if it will help....

Either that, or I was gonna as some Tufoil Engine treatment at my next oil change... THoughts? Expereiences???

I know that seafoam froducts are designed to clean ALL the carbon out of your engine but.... it could cause problems with your seals by this I mean you didn't have a leak now you do or you have a leak but it gets bigger. This is if you are looking to clean the carbon buildup out. restore in my opinion doesn't do anything just more garbage to dump in. I personnally use lucas oil and notice that the car runs a little cooler and the oil stays that clear golden brown alot longer(doesn't get contaminated. spend the 8 bucks and try lucas at your next oil change, also you can try seafoam(actual product) let it burn the crud out of your car then use an additive.

On a motor that has 10+ years on it I really would be hesitant about adding any type of cleaning agent. Chances are high that you will create oil leaks and more problems than it's worth. While the can is cheaper than a rebuild, I think it will bring the time for a rebuild closer by using it.

do not use a cleaner like rislone in a turbo engine, I burned up a turbo bearing useing it :-(

far better to change the oil after 500 miles a couple of times as oil has cleaners built in.

restore is an additive that bonds to metal and I have had good resuts with it

tufoil has pft or teflon in it, I have used it and didn't notice any difference.

Restore isn't a cleaner. I believe it's a copper/zinc concoction meant to "smooth over" imperfections in a tired motor. For reasons not clear to me, many DSMers report good success with it, particularly for quieting lifters. I can't say it's bad, but I have no idea -beyond the usual placebo effects- why it'd work.
