2.2 stroker

I was just wonderin if anyone has done the 2.2 stroker kit from howwell performance and if they had what was their thoughts on it cause im seriously thinkin bout doin it and before i do i just want to get some human opinion thanks guys

I have had my Howell 2.2L stroker for about a year now. I like it. A bit more grunt on the low end ( torque ) I dont have it tuned right now so I have not seen the full benefit of it YET, but my opinions are favorable. Fasterthanyou.com also sells a stroker motor.

On another note, if you have not checked out 2gnt.com do so. There are other people that have done a 2.4L swap from a Chrysler Cirrus/Stratus ( which requires more modification ) and one person who stroked that motor out to 2.6L.

2.2L motors show a good gain just don't buy yours from Howell IMO. It took me about 7 months to get my core charge back and the motor has had an oil leak since day one. I still can't find it. Plus the faster than you motor although more expensive is acctually a true 2.2L (acctually it's a little bigger) where as howell rounds up a bit to say 2.2L.

i'm looking to be buying my stroker in about a month here. How big of an oil leak is it? Does it affect the motor at all?

Not sure if I didnt seal the oil pan correctly where it meets the oil pump, and I have a leak to the oil pan at the oil return line fitting.

I would recommend against getting the Howell motor. Go for the FTY stroker. I think that will be better. If I had to do it again thats what I would get.

yes but you get the forged steel crankshaft. the howeel its an option

As mentioned, the FTY costs more cause it has the forged crankshaft, but you might wanna check and see if they will offer you one without it.

I have NEVER heard of ANYONE breaking the stock crankshaft. I think that its pretty much useless.

ya, thats true, if i can get it without the forged crankshaft for les, it would probly be worth it. does anyone know where i can get an exhaust manifold that is cast iron. because once iget me stroker in i'm goin to be piecng together a custom turbo kit.
