custom intake

has anyone made intake from metal elbows? if so what kind of bends did u use?

There are intakes like this on Ebay, they use two 90* elbows, and create an almost "S" like curve.

They are pretty pricey though, but you might wanna check them out on Ebay at least to get an idea of what it looks like exactly.

so 2 90s will work? I can get bends here and have them welded cheap so i was just wondering ...thanks guys

If you make a DIY intake, use PVC. PVC is the BEST thing to use for any kind of intake. What do our engines produce? Alot of heat! And what does metal do? Absorbs that heat and then in return will heat the air passing through it. PVC resists heat, in return keeping your air cooler.

"but iv got a turbo and an intercooler, so i dont need cold air..." ... The cooler it is coming in, the cooler it will be coming out. The less work the intercooler has to do, the better IMO.

even better than pvc would be ABS (black PVC piping) it can be hard to find in some areas, but it is alot lighter than pvc, and can withstand a lot more heat than pvc. your local plumbing shop should know where to get it, fi they don't carry it in yuor area.

yeah id perfer that, but like you said its hard to find,,, i had to go for the PVC.

I currently use PVC, I just want to go with metal for a cleaner look and sturdier system. on top of that I get a bit more space too. I guess I'll stick to the PVC. thanks guys
