Need a quick answer, Nippon 7.8:1 pistons or 2g pistons - with 1g rods?

What would you guys suggest? I'm scrapping the forged idea, to expensive. Need an answer quick, I can do nippon's for about 100 cheaper due to no real machine work. I can't find any comparos on the site for 2g's vs nippon's and I don't know enough about compression to figure it out. Any good links to compression info?

stock 1g pistons are 7:8:1 compression. stock 2g pistons are 8:5:1

why are you bothering with nippon pistons that have the same compression as stock 1g? in the 2 previous threads you made i tried to be as clear as i could about the strength of stock 1g pistons. getting nippon pistons is pointless.

if you want 7:8:1 compression and your 450hp goal, get some stock 1g pistons.

for 150 shipped, stock even bought used will cost more than $50 and the rings are 120 from the dealer, strictly due to cost

If you can get the stock OEM pistons for $50 more, I would DEFENTLY go that route as aposed to some cheap aftermarket ones.

But whatever it's your engine.. Just remeber because it's aftermarket dont mean it is better...

And if your whineing over $50 more for a better set of pistons IMO then I SERIOUSLY doubt your going to even come close to your 450hp goal...

someone just mentioned they'd been putting Nippon's in their cars for years etc etc and were good pistons, thermal coated etc, here's a link to them - http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=33623&item=2460637360 They "say" these are JDM and better than stock etc etc

And I'll hit my goal, which is why I was going with forged in the first place to make sure they were good but now seeing as how there are better/cheaper alternatives These cars are money suckers as everyone knows, $50 is a custom intake, new guages, starting point for a dp, a start to a big 16g. Hell if you have an extra $50 to give me let me know and I'll gladly invest it in my car, until then, keep the good advice com'n and the retarded comments to yourself :thumbdown

they might be just as good as stock, but who knows. im sure on a stock setup, they might work perfectly. but how do they act with 300hp, 350hp, 400hp, etc etc? if you dont know than i certainly dont. why not just spend the extra 50 bucks and go with the oem, something thats been proven time and time again to work and you know will do what you ask out of them. dont get hung up on 50 dollars when it comes to important things such as pistons; cheap-out somewhere else.
