i burnt my act 2100 up today they suck, i want some opinions on a stage 3 or 4 spec clutch any help would be appreciated

i was told the 2100 would hold 13 in the 1/4 mile and 300 hp it suck i wouldnt put it on a honda my buddy has a spec clutch with 20 runs on a 400 hp car and the clutch is still great ACT SUCKS

A buddy had a spec clutch on his 2g( stg 2? i dunno, a 3 puck(but for some odd reason it didnt grab like it)). It has burnt out on him and it's been under 5k miles. He isnt even making that much power either, probably 300 whp at most... So i say stick with the proven, ACT 2600. :thumb:

I have one on my BROKEN car right now. I have mixed feelings about it. It grips like you wouldn't believe(stage 3)......will not slip, tires spin like crazy in the groove at the strip. I would not recommend it for one reason, the pucked disc. The clutch has been on the car for over a year now and is still in great shape......however, my tranny and flywheel need replacing instead. Read what RRE says about pucked discs......they will destroy your tranny and flywheel before the disc wears out, I learned that one the hard way. An ACT2600 will be going on my car when it gets put back together.

Well, that is what you get for putting a 2100 on an AWD car and beating on it. Go with the 2600 this time and you will not have this problem.

Like 80% of AWD DSM's use the 2600.

rre told me a 2100 would work fine i have a friend with the stage 3 six puck spec clutch in the car for 2 year no probelm and i dont beat on my car just a crappy clutch:thumb:

I've got a spec 2450 pp with street strip clutch disc. I can run 5 runs in 1hr without slipping but the 6th one it got too hot. I run consistant 1.7xx 60' ft with street tires (Zien). I've got about 50 launches on it. I like it.

thanks for some positive feedback some poeple just listen to companys trying to sell there products like the act 2100

i just purchased the stage 2 clutch. when i was emailing spec for some info they also made reference to a hybrid they sell. SM483H - it uses the 2400 PP with a 4 puck segmented kevlar disk. The segmented kevlar is supposed to elimenate chatter and give smoother ingagment. So apparently they have lots to offer. when i get my stage 2 installed i will post feedback.

Now how do you guys estimate that the act 2100 will hold 350 hp? thats like 380 ft-lbs of torque in low gears. not what the act website says. most of the clutch manufactures only specify a percent above stock. the stock clutch from vfaq says 250 ft-lbs. so if you want to hold 400 you will need at least 60% over stock. and from everything that i've read on manufacturers websites, unless you go segmented kevlar you need a pucked disc (chatter!!) to acheive that. maybe you guys could point me in the right direction if im way off here :)

WHY IS ANYONE WITH AWD EVEN CONSIDERING ANY ACT BELOW THE 2600?

Jesus CHRIST people. That's like using only one square of toilet paper after a bad case of diarreah.

I had an act 2100, it worked great, but if u dont folow the break in directions u are skrewed and they wont last. I just out grew the 2100, but when I had it I beat the living hell out of it. it held up very well, and didnt break any of my drive line parts.

we are due to get more Feramic Clutch's in early next week. please post here if you have any questions.

Was your pucked disc sprung or unsprung? I have heard about SPRUNG 6 puck discs being manufactured, and its supposed to be easier on the driveline. What do you all think of sprung 6 puck discs for the street?

**EDIT** i just re-read the thread and noticed DSMTurbos had a sprung 6 and he had a bad experience.. anyone else have experience with this clutch? DSMTurbos can you elaborate on your problems?**/EDIT**

Yes Eric, can you please post all available information, specs about this clutch? I just went to take a look at it and it looks interesting.

info about the disc itself, using a stock or modified pressure plate, how is it modded, flywheel issues, pedal pressure, how much power will it hold etc. there is no info out there, now's your chance to showcase your product.. we're all listening :thumb:

i would surely want to also know the specs, seems like u havent gotten ur answer yet? i ordered mine a few weeks ago and got it in about 5 days later due to the back order. i still havent installed the feramic clutch because of the lag i am recieving from MachV for my clutch fork. its taking them about a week and a half and it is suppose to be here second day air! i am also clueless about the specs it can handle although this clutch being in a 11 second Evo says quite alot.

yeah, nobody has answered me yet.. i guess stampy didn't check this thread...

so i emailed AMS directly with request for info.. no response :thumb:

then i emailed Gabor directly and he told me to buy an ACT clutch - awesome

so now i'm looking at this:

New ClutchMasters DSM line :dsm:

gabor? does he work with AMS? and he told u to get the act over the feramic clutch? hmm, i guess he doesnt think the feramic clutch will perform at the same level as the ACT clutches.

nah.. Gabor is the creator of the clutch .. AMS just resells the clutches. he just didn't feel like answering questions

you gotta be kidding me? he is the creator of the clutch and for some odd reason he told you to get an ACT? that is pretty strange, maybe he is in a mood swing of somesort....:shhh:

Yeah that's probably what it is... I only emailed him because someone on this forum or the other one posted his email address and said "go ahead, its ok to ask him questions directly" and he probably got a flood of mail. Its just sad that having horrible customer service is becoming the rule and not the exception in the DSM world -- vendors want us to drop a lot of hard earned money on parts, we are entitled to make inquiries and deserve to be answered honestly. At least in Gabor's defense he answered honestly.. AMS has yet to reply, neither in this thread nor in direct email. I swear if i didn't have a 2G i'd have gotten an ACT by now. ;)
