Quick question, and it should be basic,

HOW DO YOU INSTALL THE REAR SWAY BAR (W/ BUSHINGS) ON A 2G ECLIPSE?

I HEARD IT IS EASY AS LONG AS THE AFTER MARKET EXHAUST DOESN'T GET IN THE WAY. I HAVE FULL THERMAL TECH PIPING AND WAS WONDERING IF ANYONBE KNOWS HOW TO DETERMINE WHETHER THE PIPE IS IN THE WAY, AND HOW TO GO ABOUT INSTALLING THE BAR CORRECTLY.

PLEASE HELP, DON'T HAVE THE CASH TO HAVE SOME ONE ELSE DO IT!

thanks

If your muffler is tucked way back in and is within three inches of the subframe, then there might be a problem. Otherwise, the rear bar is an absolute snap. Fifteen minutes. The b*tch is the front bar.

ps. SHOUTING is uncool and makes it harder to read the post

I have this problum too...my fron was not a problum at all it is the rear due to not having the bushings to mount it....this may be because i am not cool enought to have the turbo addition?...any suggestion on what i am to do?...i have an apexi N1 exhaust

which rear sway bar did you get? i know RM Racing sways will clear Thermal exhausts.

easiest way to install.

1. put it on jack stands
2. remove a wheel. your preference.
3. remove the stocker. pull it toward the wheel you removed.
4. install the new on in reverse order you pulled the old one.
5. put the wheel on
6. put the car on the ground

Depending on how old/corroded your sway bar endlinks are, they may be a pain to get off. I ended up having to get the passenger side one cut off. New ones are cheap though at about $15 from the dealer.

I would recommend also leaving the plastic wrap on the bar while installing it, and removing it once the bar is in place to save the finish.

im not sure biut idont think either of the spyders(gs or gs-t) came with rear stablilizer bars. i know my gs doesnt have one. Will the rm stabilizer bar still come with everything i need to install it?

it depends. some GSes DID come with rear sways. I have swapped a GSX rear bar onto one before. If not, my friend got screwed on his GST cause it came with a 420a engine:p

There shouldn't be any need to remove the rear sway bar to install the exhaust. The car will still be driveable without a rear sway bar. It will just understeer even more in a really hard turn.

I meant:

I have the 3inch full thermal tech exhaust from front to back already installed, and I want o fit in a rear 3/4 ST sway bar with bushings.

i am wondering if i will have enough clearance to get the old out and the new bar in.

And if i do have any problems with the project i wanted to know if i could drive with out a rear bar at all until I have someone who know more put it in.

Thanks for the advice!

I've driven a lifted Jeep with no sway bars and a removed traction bar... :barf: so an Eclipse without a rear will get you where you need to go just fine. Just don't hot rod it.

The ST sway bar WILL NOT fit with your Thermal exhaust. Youll either need to get a different sway bar like an RM sway bar etc. or fabricate something to lower the ST sway bar so it will clear the exhaust. The ST sway bar was designed to work with exhaust that run through the stock location, not exhausts that go under the rear undercarriage like the thermal does
