Initial settings for S-AFC - everyone's opinion

i have a 60 trim turbo, 660 injectors, 255 lp, 2g mas, fpr@40 psi, and fmic. i run 20 psi of boost on pump. i know that i should be in the negitive on the high setting, but if i try to go there my cars spudders. i let off right away. also my o2 leans out bad. i am guessing that i should be like -15 or -20, but i just think its gonna blow if i go there. and yes i start to get knock. but i have been told that i have black smoke comming out the exhaust. and it seems to run way richer when i am driving on the highway. thats when the guy saw all the black smoke. any ideas? plugs aren't black either.

Hey iv had a surging idle problem for the last 3 or 4 months. Brought my car into many shops with no avail. i called the original owner and he asked me if the battery had been pulled and it occured to me that maybe when the clutch was replaced they pulled the battery. anyways he asked me what my s-afc settings were and i had no clue cause i know nothing about this stupid thing but i looked anyways....


looking @ the rest of you settings im drawing to the conclusion that mine are... very wrong =)

Note: I do not have upgrade Injectors just upgraded turbo... not quite sure why this unit was installed in the first place. but no engin mods that would require this unit

Also: =) when im driving with the moniter on 4 channel the first reading on the airflow always reads zero.
i had my mass air flow sensor replaced but that did nothing

not many mods... 16g turbo blow off valve magna flow exaust
nothing big.

and then that S-AFC computer...

this all came with the car


oh yeah and a centerforce duel friction clutch
 
yeah im looking into buying a logger.
and yes my fuel system is stock

im getting a logger in the new year

will any palm work

first off port the hell out of that O2 housing ... you shouldn't be creeping like that. Then basically the same settings someone with a 1g and your mods would have.
 
if i port my o2 anymore, the thing will crack!.....ive done many things to try and stop the creep but it wont work
 
i havent done that yet but ive thought about it......

my car will be put up anyways for winter in a week or two and im selling my turbo and going with another setup like ive wanted to..

low point 30 Hi pt 70

Is it true that lowering the Hi and Low pts can help out with part-throttle acceleration (ie, when you are cruising then get on the gas, "response" will get better?) And ithe following differs too if you have a hacked MAS or not.

This is done by looking at the O2 trim when you get on the gas. It states that if you get on the gas and the O2 trim goes low, that means Im too rich. I then should look at my rpm low settings compared to the high settings for each rpm point to see if they are higher. If they are, then I need to lower the high pt setting (from 70 to say 65) to run leaner. Optimal O2 trim should not be too full low or full high.

I read this on one of the S-AFC tuning links but would like to know at what "ratio" to lower the Hi and Low pts to,..For example, if I lower the Hi from 70 to 65, do I do the same ratio for low from 30 to 25?

Finally, for hacked MAS a 15% Low and 65% high was optimal for this guy,..

It use to be so easy to tune, jets, timing, points dwell……. I just finished my 1999 Eclipse. Put a new short block because crank walk. So I installed a SAFC, an AFPR and an EGT in addition of the VPC. My initial settings are:

Low settings: 1k-2; 2k-4; 3k-6; 4k-10; 4.5k-10; 5k-10; 6k-10; 7k-10

High settings; 1k-21; 2k-23; 3k-24; 4k-23; 4.5k-23; 5k-22; 6k-21; 7k-18

TH Point: Low 30% High 80%

AFPR set at 43 w/out vacuum



The car started and was able to take it for a ride, not to hard (no WOT pulls) because of the new short block. Attached are a sample of some of the Ease OBDII recordings. I am aiming at learning how to tune so my question is:

After reviewing the recordings, Am I going in the right direction? And a silly one, Does anyone know what these means?



I think that the settings are a little rich, the motor started acting like too rich at the end of the run.

Hey, just got a new fmic and im about to start tuning again.

My mods are:

sm 16g
190lph
550's
22"X9"X3" FMIC (2.5 inlet/outlet+ piping)
all hard ic piping
full 3" exhaust
ported exh man. and o2
1g TB + ported 2g int. manif. to match
boost @18psi

Anyone with similar mods done have any input?
 
man heres my setup but its screwy. i have a 90 tsiawd and i have a 2g mas with all honey combs out and other mods are in my profile. my ne points are 1k,2k,3k,4k,4.5k,5k,6k,7k. for throttle low at 30% high at 70% for
lo settings
1k +47%
2k +43%
3k +40%
4k +40%
4.5k +40%

im still kind of breaking in my engine so i haven't floored it yet but my 550 at idle is at low fuel trim of 114 and goes to 118. i am almost maxed out on the safc the a/f gauge seesm to be ok o2 voltage seems fine just my low fuel trim. then when im driving and i accel to anythin around 50% at any rpm i start knocking so i thought it was my high settings so i made my high setting similar to my low settings and it still knocks.... it knocks till i let go of gas. my mods will be changing by end of next week but for now i was curious on why my car is acting liek this.

For all those looking to get information or settings...beware.

Example. Myself.

With all the mods i have, i should be able to run AT LEAST -15 across the board on my hi throttle side. My buddy and I did a datalogging run last night (NOSLO2PT0 on these forums) and guess what? Looking at the log, i needed at least straight *0* across the board pretty much to keep the knock count below 7. Every car is different.

I'd just hate for someone to use someone elses settings and blow the engine apart. I think its ok to reference eachothers settings...but some of you guys are looking for these settings to use on your own car. be careful.
 
hmm i lowerd my a/f settings did some wot pulls seemd like i was runign rich as hel at idle my exhaust still pops a little i was wodnering my o2 sensor reads nothing udner any accelaration eve under boost could it be a bad o2 sensor?
