I HAVE A 1.8 SOHC IT NEEDS A HEAD GASKET WHAT CAN I DO TO THE HEAD TO MAKE IT FASTER MORE HP TORQUE. NEW CAM ?WHAT IS A GOOD HEAD GASKET TO HELP AVOID FUTURE HEAD PROBS?DONT WANT TO BUY A TURBO, CAR IS A WINTER RAT FOR NOW.

heres acouple of things,

1 port and polish
2 get the head shaved
3 get the vavles opened up bigger

theres really not much u can do to the head. u can not get a cam but u can get yours regrinded and as for headgasket i would recomend felpro. hope this helps

for the cost of porting/bigger valves/ decking the head/etc. etc., you could just get a 2.0 and it would be faster stock.

a real intake and 2.25 exhaust will give you noticeable gains, other bolt ons like an underdrive pulley, aluminum flywheel will give you more, but at a price. IMO machine work isn't worth it if you are just using this as a winter beater
