so about 1 year ago I bought a 91 GSX for $2200 it was in very rough shape, expecially the alignment. It was my first DSM and I bought it because of it's awesome potential to be a kick ass all weather car. While driving home from work (before any mods) one day I got sideways on a dirt road and because of the extreme positive camber problem the wheels dug in and sent me on a couple barrell rolls. Luckily I was not hurt but the car was a mess. I took the remains of the car and put them in a field covered up. I had almost forgotten about this car untill last month when I was told it was going to the junk yard if I did not get it. So I made a deal w/ a guy I work with to keep it at his place. I then proceeded to look for a cheap 1G to put my drivetrain in. I found an ad for a 90 TSI "needs tranny" runs good. So I go look at the car and it's pretty nice but I can't figure out what's wrong with it, the motor starts and sounds good but when you let out the clutch in neutral it stalls. At first I was thinking transfer case :D maybe it can bee fixed for free but then when I got it off the trailer it rolled I dont think a bad xfer case will let the car roll. To make things worse the only key I have for the car broke off in the door as soon as I got it home. So now it sits in the middle of the chrysler service dept.'s lot with an appt to have a key made and to see if the X-fer case is the problem. DSM god please let it be the recall.

dying when the clutch gets let out could be a few things, however,i don't think the transfer case being bad would cause it,also.. most of the time when they are broken the car rolls and drives fine but locks up the rear tires when you turn the way all the way to one side.
