hey guys im getting my big evo 16g put on in a couple days and i have a 255 hp fuel pump im wondering if my car is gonna run shitty since i don't have a safc or a aftermarket fuel pressure regulator? whats going to happen and how high can i boost without them? will i run lean at high rpms, thats what i've heard?? thanks and let me know what i should boost at and how it will run and why.
tom

your idle will be fine with that pump, i've got it with a small 16g with no safc and i'm good. nothing to worry about for now, but that should be next on your list of upgrades. as far as boost level, just because you have a high flowing pump doesn't mean you should jack it up to 25 pounds, i'd run 14-15 lbs maximum. but it all depends on how good of a shape your motor is in to begin with and how fast you plan on rebuilding. good luck, i hope this helps.

by the way, you'll love the sound of the pump. if you fold your back seats down you can really hear it whine!

i have the pump and im putting in the turbo, im wondering if im going to experience fuel cut at certain boost, and if i will have too much pressure and will run too rich without a safc/pressure regulator...my motor is in good shape and i don't want to hurt it

I'd say it'd take a long time for your upgrades to "hurt" your motor, unless you just boosted the hell out of it. But if you run decent boost, you may or may not hit fuel cut, I don't think you will "hurt" your motor at all. You may stall out 2-3 times per week b/c you are running rich, but you'll be fine. Good luck with your install.:thumb:

I tried putting in a 255lph pump when I rebuilt my car. I didnt have an afpr either. All I know is that when I went to start my car it wouldnt idle for shit and it would die really quickly. I took the pump out, and put the stock one back in and fired the car up and it sat there and idled great.

okay but is my performance going to be hurt a lot at 14 psi with just a pump versus with a pump a logger a fpr and a safc all tuned rite?
