Trying to diagnos friend's blue smoke problem???

Hey ya'll my friend has a 2g GSX just like mine, same year same color. Anyway whenever he has a problem he asks our friend and myself. We both usually find our friend's problem and fix it for him

We'll last week, my friend called me and told me he has smoke coming out his exhaust. My first response was what color, he said, "BLUE". I immediately thought it was oil. I then asked him on idle, accleration, between shifts. He told me during accleration and shifting. So I told my friend it could likely be his t25 failing

We checked his compressor side, no shaft play(minimal if any) no bent fins that I saw. I was trying to think of what it could be causing the blue smoke. So I came on, and searched. I found a thread saying a kid's car was blowing blue smoke. And when he checked the compressor side there was little if any shaft play, but when he took off the O2 housing, he saw the turbine side fins were bent and a puddle of oil was there. So I'm tempted to check the turbine side of my friend's car. Should I look there next???

Does anyone else have any other ideas to check for?? The car is blowing blue smoke on accleration and between shifts.

I would do a compression test. (wet and dry)

It could be the valve stem seals. But the compression test wont show those. However, you could remove the exhaust housing and check for oil on the valves or in the exhaust runners.

Sounds like the problem that I'm having right now. But I haven't had time to take my turbo off yet.

Oh yeah I forgot to say that. I told him do a compression test, so I told him to go to a mechanic who has the kit to perform the compression test. He went, and the mechanic told him that a compression test shouldn't be the problem; that it must be his valve seal or valve stem seals.

I forgot whichone he said. I told him he should still have performed the test. So I will tell him to remove the 02, and see if its the turbo or not. Then if its not, go back and get the compression done.

A compression test would just be a good Idea in general. (I perform them every once in a while just to be sure that everything is going alright in there.) But while he is taking off the 02 housing, he might as well remove and inspect his exhaust manifold just to be sure.

Well last night me and my friend was installing parts onto my friend's car(the one with the blue smoke problem). So while I am there I was let me check out the turbo one more time while I am here.

I pull the intake, and I am like . It looked like one of the blades were bent. I go to reach in for any play, and it moves in and out alot. So yes it was the turbo. He plans to get a 16g this week.

I'm glad that it was easy to diagnose. I guess thats the best excuse to upgrade though.
I wonder what the turbo ate that made the blade bend.

It was only one blade, all of them looked good except for one.
