Does anyone have any experience with the Gude head package for the '90 dsm turbo? It sells for around $1400 shipped and comes fully built with cams, valves, guides, springs, ported throttle body, ported intake manifold. It is a completely done head ready to bolt on and Gude claims 45% more horsepower to the wheels. How can this be for $1400? The closest head package that SlowBoy makes is almost $1700 and doesn't come with the ported throttle body or the intake manifold. Please advise. Thanks :talon:

The ported throttle body probably doesn't make a ton of difference unless your putting out some serious horsepower. But SBR's could still be better. A better set of cams and a better port job could be more improvement over the ported intake manifold if it's just a stock manifold.

Can you lend more insight on the package? What kind of cams and springs/lifters/valves and so on. It doesn't sound like a bad package at all though.

The kit comes with OEM everything except the ported head, throttle body, intake manifold, and a set of 228 cams made of reground mitsubishi cores.

A ported throttle body isn't going to make much difference until you have some serious horsepower going on. So I would say spend the extra money and get the extra money to get the SBR head package with a better set of cams, lifters, springs...the works. It's probably got a better port job as well.
