1G DSM Chugging

WELL I BOUGHT A 1990 EAGLE TALON TSI AWD AND I AM HAVING PROBLEMS WITH IT ALREADY. IT CHUGS .IT ALMOST SEEMS LIKE IT WON'T BOOST BUT IT DOES. I AM THINKING THAT THE FUEL FILTER IS PLUGGED OR SOMETHING. THIS IS THE FIRST TURBO I HAVE OWNED (DSM ALSO). I WOULD APPRECIATE ANY REPLYS.

Now about the chuging your going to need to decribe it a little more. Is it bucking? any exhaust popping? Depending on the last time it had a tune-up that would be my first suggestion.

okay it explain bucking. It does pop once in awhile and i had a problem with it arcing but i wrapped it with electrical tape and it quitit arc from the cap to a bolt

Definiteley a tune-up is needed(Plugs,Wires,Fuel Filter). With the popping It sound like a fuel issue.

I usally dont chug with my DSM, I usually chug with my friends...the DSM doesnt like beer that much, she tends to like 93 octane, coolant and few other liquids but she can beer bong some oil though

.. who didn't see that one coming a mile away??

Also check your battery terminals.. if they're loose or have crap on them, they will actually "reset" the car, causing a momentary stall. I'd suggest a tune-up even if it is just a fuse issue.. it'll make the car run stronger.

I am getting this weird smell since yesterday. I almost smells like a new rubber smell or something. And now my car car winds out before it starts to move and when i shift gears. It seems to go into reverse well but into forward gears it winds.

Well my car was chugging so I checked the plugs found that one of my plug wires was broke and i replaced it, then it started to smell funny. I bought the car with it chugging. Does anyone think it is the clutch?

My car will shift into gear fine(five speed) but won't move rolls freely. It seems like its in neutral. would love to hear some replies. Thanks

Cheap!!!... stock is fine..I priced some in my town at a local parts stores. I came up with $159 and $173.. But would be greatly appreciated if someone could fill me in on a place to get them cheaper.

What's up everyone? I just had my turbo coolant return line replaced at the dealer like 2 days ago. Yes, i said dealer but im glad i did because when he entered my car into his compute he told me that my car had been there before and that the engine in my car is a rebuilt engine with only 15,000 miles on it. Anyways, my car "chugs". It's like the fuel supply is cut off. It's hard to take off in 1st when my car does this. I watch my tach and the rpms stay the same.

Also, my rpms at idle tend to jump within a couple hundred rpms? Sometimes when i stop my rpms will stay at like 1100rpm and then drop to like 700rpm. Other times it will just drop to like 500 rpm and then back to like 750 - 800rpm.

Sorry about all the questions but im new to the dsm scene. Any info would really help. Thanx!

sounds kinda like idle surge to me. Mutted, you got any ideas?
