Yikes! I remember back when I didn't have all my IC piping put together... I drove around with two filter -- one for the engine and one for the turbo. I was so afraid of something getting sucked in there and damaging the blades.

Yeah, I wasn't too worried about it because it was about a 5 minute drive or so in town to the bodyshop. Then from there a block away for an alignment, and then a 5 minute drive back to my house to mount intercooler and piping.

I'm wondering how much of a difference it's going to make. The auction says those wheels are 330mm dia., and the stock one is about 390mm dia. -- only 60mm difference. Is it that noticeable?

How tall are you, Mike? Did the steering wheel bother you a lot to begin with?
Yeah they are crazy expenisive, but it does make a big difference.

Take a look at NRG's slim hubs or theire quick release slim hubs as well.

I just went with a Sparco hub, it's kind of a shorter hub compared to what I'm use to seeing. Do you have an aftermarket steering wheel as well Rand?

Hey guys, got the car back yesterday from the bodyshop and mechanic shop and it looked pretty good. The bodyshop didn't do that great of a job straightening, but I made it all work after some adjusting and bending of my own. Mounted the FMIC and new bumper and finished up the exhaust and it sounds and works great. Turbo spools up a lot faster now than the talon since the power steering and a/c has been removed and I have a lot free'er flowing exhaust to help with spool time. It does smoke a bit at idle sometimes (after sitting for about 15-20 sec) and has a hard time starting up after sitting for a while. I am trying to run down the tank all the way down and then fill it up with fresh 92 octane and maybe some fuel injection cleaner or something as soon as I can. Not sure if older gas can contribute to the "problems" I am having, but will find out within the next day. Here are some pics of the finished product, I am very glad to have the car back and running:

I have a lot of room now! haha

Thanks to everyone who kept up with my progress.

Nice to see it coming along well, buddy.

I would recommend putting the powersteering back in though. A/C is no big deal, but I couldn't live without power steering.

I threw all the power steering lines away and had to cut one of them off the rack with a sawzall so there is no going back lol.

Glad you finally got it wrapped up. Well, except for those nuances, which I am sure you will get straightened out soon enough.

Pffft. I never had power steering the entire time I had my 1g, and as long as I was going 1+ mph, it was never a problem. Link the two sides of the rack with a piece of hose or something, it will make turning a tad easier without the PS pump.

edit: Not saying I would willingly give up my PS. I love my power steering.

I cut mine too with a dremel. Need to move it because the intercooler would not fit without it gone.

But mine is back. All you need to do is get two small hose clamps and a 2' long tube of fuel line. Just re-route the line or whatever to the side or wherever fits. I did that and filled er back up with P/S fluid. Works great now.

Power steering is overrated. If the guy doesn't want it, then quit harassing him bout it. I didn't have ps on my car, and when I finally put it back on...I didn't even like how the car drove anymore. It felt really unstable and a pain in the ass especially the faster you went...only advantage is real tight slow turns etc. Otherwise, I would gladly drive daily on freeway etc without it!

Awesome to see the car back up and running bro...too bad I can't have the same luck

Advice coming from someone who who puts 200 miles on his car inbetween nuking trannies and engine rebuilds. .

Of course its his car and he can do as he wishes, I wasn't pushing it just giving advice.

Mike the car looks great man, cant wait to see it all one color and running great again.

I could have sworn I gave a reply to your post yesterday lol.

The Tsudo fit up pretty well, but it does hit the rear crossmember a bit. I read that they dent in a part of the exhaust to clear it, but mine wasn't dented. I suppose sometime I will pull it off and give it a few love taps to make it not touch lol.

Overall sounds great, turbo spools up faster now, so definitely worth the money
