2G-specific time to mod engine please help out

alright im starting to mod my engine and stuff since im in Auto Technician classes and learning more about engines. If i get headers hi flow cat and new muffler or should i say full exahust system will it help a whole lot. Second how good is a set of high performance plugs wires and coil gonna help me. Third what about engine internals such as cams and all of that good stuff. Is it worth the money and what should i do first. If i spend some money i wanna notice a difference. ALso dont worry about telling me how hard it is to put stuff in since i have access to lifts air tools and anything else i need. I would really appreciate some brands of stuff to get and estimated cost. Thanks guys im just tired of being slow.

i responded to your question in the other thread but ill respond here. im no expert but i do know my fair share so if i am wrong then anyone can feel free to point out my mistake. to your questions......the header, hi flow cat and full exhaust will help you out a good amount. you will definately be a little bit quicker than before but nothing crazy. plugs, wires and a new coil do absolutely nothing to make you faster. they just help with ignition related issues. third, engine internals are definately worth the money in my opinion. i told you in the other thread, cams are a definate plus. for about 400 bucks, you could easily get 20hp if not more. you might also want to look into a high compression bottom end and maybe rebuilding your top end. one definately good mod is the afx ecu. it is said to give you about 15hp right off the bat and add that to the fact that the power gets greater as you add mods to into the equation. its a well spent 540 bucks imo. any more questions, feel free to ask

well after doing those mods, you wont be super fast, but you will be a lot quicker and should be able to take out some decent competition. good driving also helps out so practice that

as people have already told yea the exhaust, headers, & hi flow-cat will help, u will definetly feel the power & hey if u live in FL like me then u can just remove all ure cats hehe.

I will put my .02 in & say get ure exhaust, headers (i just did some reaserch on this as im getting it & i found out ssautochrome headers are pretty good bang for ure buck) & Hi-Flow Cat, but ALSO get a Intake, if u dont plan on goin turbo at some point i definetly recommend a Cold-Air Intake. I have it in my car & i definetly feel the difference, wit those 4 mods u should be good & be able to get some wins w/ some good drivin until u save more money for more mods

ok time to fess up.. i have been driving since i wuz about 10 alwayz out on the road with my dad.. i started in a 88 suzuki samari and then moved to a 93 surburban then a 96 ranger b4 i got my eclipse... but the thing is i'm only 15 i have my temps and in april i get my licience... i love driving and i want to mod my eclipse but my mom doesn't like that so my dad is helping me do whatever i can to get a few extra pones... one that i did to my 86 bronco 2 is a speed chip off of ebay for like 99 cents... its prob. not good for your engine but all it does is tell you engine that it needs more air so it gives it to it... working ok on my bronco 2 but i haven't tryed it on my 2g..
since my mom won't let me do anything i'm working on a header or ported exhaust manifold. an underdrive pulley and hacking my airbox and a k~and~n filter... a high flow cat will come soon i hope.. see my mother doesn't now much about cars but if she saw a shiny new CAI or cam gears she might think something.. so everything i do she won't notice if she has a peak! i know im evil... lol and i'm working on a throttle body spacer... idk if it will help anything but i'm gonna try

ohh if anybody has any other ideas pm me please
