What engines would fit in my 92 Eclipse 2.0 Liter FWD? I was told that a VR4 from an evo would be able to fit. One that contains a turbo with it and is able to produce up to 290 hp! Can someone please help me with this info and if you know of any websites selling imported engines can you please inform me. Here is a link to a small part of that engine I am talking about. http://www.terato.com/cars/Cararchive/gtievo2.htm

-Thanks

i've gone through that stage when i blew up my motor. i've considered getting a JDM 4G63t but the complications just seem endless. first off, that VR4 engine you're talking about is the same 4G63t engine that a turbo DSM has, except for the fact that it pushes 290 hp 'coz it came with a 16G turbo and yellow top injectors. i assume it comes with a cyclone turbo intake that would probably require a JDM ECU too since USDM ECU's seems to have issues with the cyclone turbo intake operation. the wiring harness has to be changed too, not unless if you want to do a hack wiring job to accomodate the additional wiring lines.

next, you would have to upgrade your transmission to take the power coming from the engine. you don't have to get the tranny that comes with the JDM engine since it is for an AWD driveline.

i ended up getting the JDM NT 4G63 with a cyclone NT intake. works fine, i got no problems with it.

i got my engine from osaka jdm engines . price is reasonable and fast shipping. hope this helps.:thumb:

there is no problems with the USDM ecu, and the cyclone, Only that the USA ecu Doesnt know what a cyclone is.

if you dont have the Jdm ecu, you will have to manually setup an actuator for the Butterflys, otherwise your car will be a dog, since the other 4 runners will never open.

the stock transmission wont need to be upgraded to hold 290hp. but a clutch is soon in order.

you Do not have to add wires to the USDM wireharness, considering the JDM Turbo engine has No EGR, the the cyclones butterlfly actuator operates off the same exact wire and the actuatuars are identical, just plug it in. (assuming you have the jdm ecu)

you will need the actuator, and a few other parts. I have a jdm vac line diagram for the cycloen engine, if you need it, and decide to go this route.

the best rescourse for cyclone is here: hope the mods dont mind me plugging dsmtalk, even thoughthe bastards have me banned for life. (ass's)

granted USDM ECU's works on the cyclone intake (after setting up manual actuators for the butterflies), you still have to consider swapping the NT ECU for a turbo one. i'm not sure the NT wiring harness is equipped with additional wiring lines to accomodate other sensors/senders associated with turbo engines, although there might be slots available on the plug for additional lines.

as for the transmission, is it safe to use a tranny rated to handle 1/2 the power of a 290 hp engine? yes, an upgraded clutch is order but will the internals of the NT tranny be able to hold it?

please, feel free to put in your insight.
