i just built a 420a completely 13.0.1 compression, we are hoping for 13sec timeslips still dialing in all the power though, we also took 600 pounds out of this car, and when i hade my 420a eclipse i ran 14.9 in milwaukee at the grove with throttlebody, intake, exhaust, headers, underdrive crank pulley, and cam gears.

2 Factory Freak Strikes Again 15.6 W/ Cai & Exh Wow Im Lucky!
3 Got "worked" by previous owner...just found out

Theres you 3 links concerning factory freaks and if you think its not true then you will need to rethink your thoughts. Ask DOUG99RS about his compression in his car.... or ask anyone else that has a "factory freak". they probably have a little bit higher of a compression than normal if you notice the normal that is.

lol i just don't get it, factory freak? Like Nomar the magical elf came by and poured magic in the gas-tank? "here you go 420a! now you will be best throughout the land!" I just think its bs, if you want higher compresseion then do work to your engine. Don't assume someone just magicly made it faster from the assembly line. Machines make these cars, not magic elfs. Machines don't tune our cars differently. Changing compression isn't a hard task, it could be as simple as changing a head gasket, doing that doesn't make it a "factory" car anymore does it? But hey I could careless, factory freak or stock, I know my car is no factory freak ### I do all the work to my dsm myself, and ill race any "factory freak" and well see how the factory freak horsepower compares

i just timed my 1/4 mile. take into consideration, it may be a few feet off of an exact 1/4 mile. it's techincally 400meters Which is very close). anyways my 0-60 was roughly 10.3s and my 1/4 was 15.97 seconds @ 85 mph. i know i must take into consideration human reaction time and and all that but this gives me a base to think about. also it was nice and cool, and my engine had just warmed up, so cool air was good. also this is with a car that i weihed today (on a semi truck scale) as being 3044 lbs. i know this sounds heavy, but with half a tank of gass, 100+ pounds of subs/amp, spare tire, my bro (timing from start to finish) jack and all that it makes sense. now, if for some reason this time sounds imposible, let me know and i will maybe remeasure the 1/4 or if u have any suggestions. this is a practically deserted road, we sat there for 10 mins warmin up the car and no one was in sight. thanks for all your help.

mods: plugs/wires, Ram air (K&N), magnaflow straight through race series muffler, test pipe.

trevor

p.s. my rear shocks are pretty much kaputz, would new shocks keep more weight on th efront and help traction?

lol, well stock the 2g's with 5spds run around 16.5, so I think being able to run a 15.4 (on a track that goes uphill) pretty good since Ive spent less than $500 in mods.

With my 97 RS. I ran a 15.9 with exhasut only, everything else is stock.

What kinda times could I be expecting after a CAI, Headers, and cat? Could that throw me into the mid 15s?

ugh...

This subject again. :rollseyes

Fastest all motor 420a DSM ran a 14.6 with massive head work, milled head for increased compression, modified transmission that was "working" at 60mph, and slicks. It is the only NT DSM on the list at DSMtimes.org or .com or whatever. Check it out sometime.

Next to that, the fastest time is about 15.3 with similar mods sans tranny hack job. Come to Norwalk next summer and watch me run somewhere in between.

To summarize: factory freak & times without proof (slip, video) = BS

Have a nice day.

I only speak up because I saw my name mentioned. But just to clarify a few things about cars I've done work on that were mentioned above. First: When we took the compression reading on Toney's (1TuffRS), Don's (Dudas1), and my (prior to head work) car my method of checking compression was not exactly right.

The standard method for checking compression is to remove all four plugs after the engine warms up, spin the engine over roughly four revolutions, and take your measurement.

The way I took the measurment was to continue to allow the engine to spin over until the compression reading maxed out. Therefore the numbers we took were higher than most.

Toney can clear this part up as to which came first, but Toney's block had been replaced with a remanufactured one from Mitsu (actually chrysler). But I can't remember if we took the readings before or after the block was replaced.

The fact still remains that Toney's car, with limited mods, was still faster than most other -=REPORTED=- ET's. The exact times I don't remember because I've not really been too interested in track times as my eclipse is not exactly straight line material.

As for my new compression readings since the head work (Crower 64462 cams, AEM Cam Gears, Crower springs and titanium springs, PT Cruiser followers, Mopar performance lifters, Howell oversized valves, Ported, Polish, and milling work done by Action Automotive of Raleigh, NC) I've not taken any readings. Until it gets put on a dyno and the cams dialed in I won't be taking any. If the cams aren't tuned the readings won't mean squat.

That seems like quite a bit of money. Why not save yourself and just Cam it, and port the intake manifold and TB?
