compression on a 1.8 rebuild

hey, i was thinking about rebuilding my 1.8, and i am thinking about larger pistons and higher compression. First of all, can i even get these pistons? How high of a compression could i go? How much HP are we talking about? I would love to throw a turbo in there, but i don't want to invest more than what the car is worth! Thanks for any info!!
