so i take my car to get etested and i failed so instead of payin 450$ to get a conditional pass i told the guy that since i didn't fail by much(1 point on NO ppm:cry: ) i would give him 100 bucks under table clean cash to rig it up and make it pass.. so he told me that it was my knocks that i failed on..
here are my questions
#1. what exactly are knocks? i thought only turbo's had high knocks
#2. what can i do to fix this problem

and finally
#3. he advanced my timing a tiny bit to make it pass:confused: why did he do this and i don't recall him puttin it back to normal is there any hazard to my car now? how can i tell if my timing is wrong

ok so my car should be fine..
legal limit was 501 noX or whatever and i was 502.. he fiddled for about 5 minutes and got it down to 466 and than on the test i got 500.. whewwwwww dodged a bullit on that one..

thanks defiant. glad someone had the knowledge i lacked in

what could be the repair though? new catalytic converter?
