is it possible to do this?

Ok, everyone says you have to know what you want as the end result before you can really start on the performance work. Well i know what i want i just dont know if i can get it. I drove my dads pickup today and i love the power it has. I am not sure the exact numbers but it is a '98 dodge ram with the magnum V8 in it. I was wondering if it is possible to get that kind of power out of a 1.8? If so what is involved in doing so? Thanks for any help. :dsm:

True, true, I have a 90 1.8 AND another 90 2.0 and stock there is a world of difference. Think about putting in a 2.0 in your car, it's possible and not very hard, depends on your mechanical talent, ask me if you have a question on what this takes or whatnot,
Chris
Ps, you can't really turbo a 1.8, none came turbo, and they only rev to six grand.

Theres only one way to get that power and that is to blow your car up and buy the same truck he has

i have a 126hp 128 lb/ft 1.8 my list of mods is pretty damn long but your not gonna get the power of a Magnum V8

that's not true i know of a few turbo 4G37's and im planning on doing mine next summer.

It would cost you too much money to produce that type of power in the 1.8. You would be better off just buying a turbo for the money you would spend on the mods.

To everyone in this thread:

I just wanted to say sorry about my response to everyones "help". I was having a rough day as it was and i have been told soooo many times to get rid of the 1.8 that i was fed up. Sorry.OMG

Hmmm, did the turbo 4G37 come in an eclipse laser or talon? I didn't think so, that is my point and great luck on turboing your 1.8

lemme clear this up. The only turbo 1.8 i've yet to see is ginsu'z on this site and dsmtalk.com. He is possibly driving the worlds only turbo 1.8, check his gallery. He's said before his 0-60 is below 6 seconds, 2 u turbo and awd turbo guyz that might not sound like much, but thats good for a 1.8. The 84-87 mirage / colts had a turbo model which came with stock with a factory turbo. U can use that manifold and a custom adapter plate to get a turbo 1.8 but there's alot of work and time thats gonna need to be put in, and ur still not gonna be able to run the incredible amount of boost that gs-t gsx's can get.

thats an actual turbo 1.8 write up, its possible, but not advised to the unadvanced tuner. read that first, then see what u think. Maybe you should just start of with simple supporting mods..ie - intake/full catback exhaust/pacesetter headers/ underdrive pulley/ act clutch/ lighted flywheel / having cams reground to factory or personal specs. The mods are there its just do you have the time, $$$, and know how?
