I have next to no experience with cars, or tools, so here we go.

I'm doing the thing where you take the can OFF and just have the lid and the filer, but when i took the plastic arm off thats attached to the can, i saw like a pipe undernieth it that runs down inside my car.... whats that for? do i NEED to have the arm still there and just take the can off? Or do i take the arm and the can off? secondly, the arm is connected to the can by these little ring things with holes in the middle. HOW do i take these off?!?! LOL And third, the hooks that hold the lid to the can have rusted and two of them broke... what can i use to keep the filter attached to the lid, and how do i do it?

hehehehe... gotta do this before my old man gets home and i catch the beat-down.

The line running down inside your car is just for more cold air... You don't need it... All you need is the MAS that's attached to the lid that goes down inside the air filter. I just took mine off yesterday and I attached the air filters with 3 wire ties hooked together... You'll have to be creative on how to best place wire ties to hold it on... Then look around for a way to keep the air filter from falling onto your clutch. I'll be back on after I eat dinner then I can give you more help if you need it.

Thank you so much... so i can just leave the can on the arm and take it off completely... ok... how did you put the wire ties on? The original clips just latched under the filter and pulled it onto the lid.... the only way i would see how to use wire ties would to put holes in the filter and that cant be good LOL. about keepingit away from the clutch, could you explain that to me.... i'm so illiterate i know i'm driving you crazy LOL.

no you're fine... I understand we all have to start somewhere...Just give me a second I'm going to take some pictures then put them into my photo album

Thankyou for the picture, but the metal clasps that hold the actual filter to the can lid have rusted and snapped.... how can i fasten the filter to the lid

OK I've got the photos in my album just click on my name and then go to my album... Make sure that I know you got them ok... There are 3 pictures in there...

Just like in the photos use the wire ties... I only have one of those metal clasps but the wire ties hold the filter on.
Did those pictures help you?
