does anyone know if i need an ecu upgrade if i am going to turbo charge my 95 eclipse gs?...would i be able to use the eclipse gst ecu...if not then where can i find a ecu upgrade...would that be all i need for the fuel management system...by the way where is my ecu in my car...where is it located?...is it true that most turbo don't need coolent being run through them...just oil is fine...where the oil line come from when it goes into the turbo and where does the oil go to when it goes out of the turbo?...ok i think that is enough q's...i'm just double checking just in case i do anything wrong....thanks for you time

There is no ECU upgrade available for your car. I don't know if there ever will be either. The oil comes from your oil sensor and comes out of the turbo and back into the oil pan via a dump tube that is welded into the oil pan. You don't "need" coolant running through it, but it helps turbo life. Your going to need a boost dependant fuel pressure regulator to run turbo, and an upgraded fuel pump, at least. No offence here just going by your post, but if your trying to do a custom turbo for your car, I don't think you are ready yet, you have a lot to learn, so I would get a kit, or start reading up.

>not necessairly. You cannot use the gst ecu, completely different engine. The only ecu upgrade I know of is the af/x (howell) ECU, and that's for 97's only. Stick with your same ecu, read up on instructions for the turbo kit.

...would i be able to use the eclipse gst ecu...if not then where can i find a ecu upgrade...would that be all i need for the fuel management system...

> Full turbo kits include a fuel management system upgrade. There have been problems with the vortec unit though. THIS IS THE MOST CRITICAL PART. If you run too lean (not enough fuel to compensate for air), you will blow up and melt.

> yes, you have an ecu. I've never had to mess with it (yet), and its different from my last car.

research, research, research.
use this site and 2gnt's turbo forum.

howell automotive makes ecu upgrades for the 95-97 non turbo eclipses. you have to call howell automotive b/c it is not listed on their site. www.howellautomotive.com 98-99 ecu's will be out by summer. also note, these ecu is not for automatics. the automatics use a seperate ecu to control the transmission. any questions, just ask.

I believe the ECU in these cars are located right behind the radio. I haven't dug around in there too much, but I think I saw it in there.

Someone else should be able to confirm or discredit this.

I don't know about the 1G's but the 2G ECU is located under the console (cupholder to be specific).

2gnt (95-99 non turbo) models have the ecu in the engine bay. the computer looking thing under the cup holders are for the safety restraint system. and for the auto 2gnt models, they have the automatic transmission ecu located behind the center console up against the firewall. adrenaline, sorry but no 1g ecu is availible from howell. not sure if they ever will. hope this helps out those who need it and for the others, hope they learned a little more about their cars. and yes, the ecu is in the engine bay on your 2gnt. don't believe me, look at the thing infront of the fuse box.

look at the bottom right of the picture. looking at the headlight, you look above it and see the fuse box. further above that is the ecu for the 2gnt models.

hope this helps out.
