I bought my prthane mounts as complete units to avoid the cutting and installing of the prothane and what not. So the install for the passenger side motor mount was a breeze the front lower mount just as easy. I get to the trans mount I thought it was gonna be a breeze but I go to take the mount off after unbolting it and the dam thing won't come off. Now I tried jackin up the car in diffrent plaecs to get some clearance but nothing seems to work can someone throw me a bone here how do you get the trans mount off the car

i just did mine last weekend, what i did was drop the lower crossmember and unbolted the tranny mount it should lower it down enough to were you can slide it out without to much trouble. hope that helps

are you talking about the transmission mount under the battery tray, or the Rear roll stop mount that has a brakect attacthed tot he transmission but is mounted up on the fire wall?

Because that one is the PITA

No i'm talking about the one under the battery tray I"m not even gonna mess with that rear one afer seeing how bad this went. It took me just about all night just to get the old mount out. I thought I was home free you just slide the new one in and bolt her down right...wrong. It's just as hard getting it back in. I tried taking the mounting plate off and attaching it to the mount then trying to install both together didn't work.

I think tomorrow I might try taking off the cross member but I'm kinda worried now cause I tried a nother guys technique who said unbolt the mount next to the belts and the rear roll stop mount and then jack the shit out of the oil pan which is actualy how i got the old mount off but it's not that easy to get it back on. On top of that after jacking the shit up out of the oil pan the bolts for the two mounts I took off don't align right anymore so that's gonna be fun. This mod def falls under not worth it in my book. Wheen hop can not be that bad to warrent this kinda mod.

mine took about 3 hours to do the sides and the front on the crossmember and these were inserts im telling you drop the crossmember itll take no time at all cause it falls just enough to slide it up and out and put it back in.

i also jacked it up and supported it on the radiator support that may make a difference let it hang down and had a cherry picker to pull it back up into place. In my eyes this was a well worth it mod that and the battery relocation to show off them purty mounts ROFL

Yeah where can I get a battery location kit that was my next ? and I don't have a cherry picker but I might have to go get one now just for this which sounds nuts. That or maybe just get another jack but I def agree the crossmember seems like the only logical answer without poping axles and what not.

yeah honestly drop the the crossmember, it will make getting to all the mounts that much easier.

I think once your boosted, or pushing that big shot of nitrous you'll appreciate that lack of wheel hop

CI is sending my mounts out today hopefully; I will do the install and perhaps post a little article about how to do it.

Yeah I mean none of them are hard to know what you have to do tech it's just how to do it. Like the passenger side motor mount front and rear are all preatty easy you unbolt the bolt that goes threw the mount un bolt the mount from the frame and pull it out and do the same in reverse to install it's just with the trans mount how to get the mount out and in is the hard part not unbolting it or even finding the right bolts.

I'm gonna try again to wiggle the plate back and forth and get it back in then I won't have to do anything crazy. I had no idea why they had those two sets of holes that nothing went threw untill I needed some leverage to pull the mount out I put a 3/8th extension threw a set and used it to pull up the whole mount which worked great.

Well, it takes me about 2 hours tops to completely pull my motor and put it back in. The beauty of our cars is the ECU is in the engine bay; no fiddling with the firewall. I will try and do it the normal way by replacing each one individually, and possibly do a write up in the 420A how-to section.

i got mine from advanced auto parts they have the wiring and the box i got mine for under 20 for the whole thing

I would have done that if I had a cherry picker and I wasn't really trying to pull the axles any way. To be honest with you the exception of the trans mount you would be making extra work for yourself I did the front and passenger mounts in like 30min. The roll stop if I wanted to do take about 30 min for that one alone as my intake manifold is already off but I'm not installing that those inserts.

Well, to each their own. I will let you know if I find an easy way.

I got my Cherry picker for $150 brand new. Advanced auto has competitive pricing, so I told him Salvo auto parts had it for $150 and the manager lowered the price from $300 to $150 (I hope this made sense).

Yeah I got ya and the pickers are that much at pep boys around me too but that's not why I don't have one I live in an appartment complex whose anal and no room in my apartment(3rd floor by the way) so having one just doesn't seem logical especialy when I have friends with them that if I REALLLY needed to use one I would go over there but I didn't think I would need one for this and even though a pain in the ass I didn't. I just took the mounting plate off the trans put the mount in the backet but didn't put the pin in yet which is th mistake I made last night which made it so much harder. You don't put the pin in then push the mount up as far as it will go the bottom of the actual mount itself will hit the bracket slide the mounting bracket with the studs underneath bolt it back to the trans and lower the mount back down and put the pin in and bolt it to the trans if that makes any sense.

In the end if you odn't have a lot of tools lifting the oil pan with the passenger mount and rear roll stop mount disonnected will get her done :thumb:
