i have a 93 talon(4g63-nt) and i was wondering what would be the best way to go for my motor. would turbo or nitrous be the best thing for me?

its all about what you want..
turbo will be a lot more $$$ to start out with, and needs a lot of maintence.

nitrous is much cheaper and produces about the same if not more amount of power depending on the shot. but also filling up the bottle gets costly depending on where you live and the price per lb of it.

turbo is power all the time, nitrous is push button it all depends on what you want.

Nitrous will only produce more power than a turbo if the turbo is installed with minimal tuning and mod support.
Actually the cheapest route is to save the $500+ that nitrous would cost, sell that 1g and buy a 1g turbo. Save you money in the long run and alot of time.
www.dsmtrader.com you could probably even find a nicely moded one.

well he was asking what to do to his 93 esi, of course selling and buying a turbo is a option. but not what he asked. and im no prob with the 1g nts but wouldnt it cost the same to turbo it like the 2g?

yes it would but that is $2000 dollars for the 2g for parts excluding install. And the 1g would be higher for prats because there is no "kit". Add install and you are looking at $3000 total. Now for $3000 and the sale of his 1g he could get a very nice 1g turbo or even a 2g turbo(maybe).

I am recommend the way for him to maximize his investment money. Nitrous would be the cheapest easiest quick fix for power, no doubt.

Trust me i dont want to be the dick that always says to sell the nt buy a turbo.....But i owneed a gorgeous 94 eclipse nt for 4 years Getting any power mods costs way to much for the small results. Cost/benefit analysis is where my thought pattern lies. Also turboing the nt even without internal engine work or some serious supporting mods will only get the car to about 190 horsepower(and the nt pistons arent grooved to reduce knock either). I sold my 1g which i loved and bought a 2g tsi

COOL IM WITH you on all them points.. i love my RS but it time to sell it and move to the dark side.. though i love my car, but it will never be as fast as the gsx im about to get.... thats why im selling my car as we speak so i can have some GO now

ok, thanks for the help. but could i just get a swap for a 4g63 turbo? i really dont want to get rid of my car. plus i wouldent get that much $$$ out of it anyways. the motor has 70,000 miles on it, so i was thinking about getting a ne one anyways. Or is there a better motor to get than the 4g63 turbo. i dont really know of any common swaps...

Here's an idea. Get a working 4g63 turbo engine out of a wrecked car(maybe a roll or rear ended car, or even a slightly front hit). That would be cheaper. By the way my 94 nt i traded for $3500 towards my new car. The guy sold it for $5500. It had 94,000 miles on the body and 43,000 miles on the engine. This is with a screwed up transmission, scraped to hell front bumper and horrible lifter tick! The rest of the paint was perfect though. Don't undervalue your nt, the right buyer can stull make you enough.

Also, there is no such thing as a "better" motor for the DSM's. They produce so much power its scary for such a small car.

why don't you look around for someone with a turbo that upgraded to a bigger one, buy their turbo for cheap get it re-built if needed then find a used exhaust manny and the piping you need, you could get it for less than 2000 bucks. I know i found a stock t-25 turbo for 50 bucks with a good housing still just needs rebuilt, found a used manifold for 100 bucks and a side mount intercooler for 200 that was never used, if you look around you can always find parts

best place to look is www.dsmtrader.com you can find anything there
