I'd like to hear from other 1G NT, who turbocharged their cars...
What they think about doing so... Was there any regrets? I really don't wanna sell my car for a turbo one. I invested too much on it up to now. Every part has been rebuilt, new paint job, low milleage everything is new! + I think buying a turbo is not worth it. Because I would need to change all the turbo system... for 450 HP :D

Since the compression is higher, I'll have to drop it. Can anyone give me the approx. cost to do it?

Thanks for your time.

Charles

ya it's called makin a turbo for the 4g63 or sumthin like that..
and about ur compression you don't have to worry about it so long as you get a better head gasket.. mls metal gasket would do the trick ppl have been tellin me that this will lower compression enuff to run good boost levels.. i'm not an expert so if this is wrong someone be my guest and correct me

there's a whole thread dedicated to this. so why'd you start another??

Yup Sorry! I just read the whole thread very interessting.

HondaHunter, thanks for the info!

The thing is I wanna run over 25 psi of boost on my futur plans. So i'll need more information about this.
I just read in my Haynes repair manual that my cylinder compression pressure (at 250 to 400 rpm)

2.0L engine non-turbo
standard 192 psi
service limit 145 psi
difference between cylinders 14 psi maximum

and on the 2.0L engine turbo
standard 164 psi
service limit 121 psi
difference between cylinders 14 psi maximum

I don't really otherstand :p but It seen to have no big differences between those two.

the main problem with the nt pistons is that he upper most ring lands are very close to the top of the cylinder. this makes them very susceptible to failure under knock conditions. you could probably run some serious boost, but the first few cases of knock could take out the rings in a hell of a hurry.

you could easily drop in a set of forged pistons and keep the 9:1 compression ratio.

Okay so your telling me that I could probably run nice boost with Forged piston + I could had MLS Metal head gasket would help too... will Stronger Rogs help also?

Humm Piston forged at (9.0:1) or 2g(8.5:1) or EVO(8.7:1)
would those be better then 9:1 ??

thanks for your help Kyle btw you have the same bleu as my cars :) I also have bleu tit windows, it looks really good! I'll post some pic soon

Charles

yea if you're going to be paying for forged pistons get the rods as well.

i'd go with something around the 8.7:1 range. remember the higher the compression the more spool you'll get, but it also makes the tuning window smaller. as in there's less room to make mistakes to keep detonation (knock) away.

alright!
Okay if I install those part:

JE piston at 9.0:1
Eagle Rods
Metal head gasket

How much boost will I be able to run and be safe?

Otherwise is there a cheaper way to lower my compression? or an other way to produce High Boost with my 4g63 engine?

"Turbo Installation
Since the motor is basically the same layout as the turbocharged 4G63, it is possible to bolt up factory turbo parts from another car. However, with the higher compression, it won't be possible to turn up the boost enough to gain huge amounts of power. Obviously, the compression can be lowered."

there's alot more to how much boost you can run than just the strength of the rods and pistons. on those you could run 30+ psi, but you won't have any fuel mods or anyhting else to keep it safely there.

Wow. I wish I could close this thread. None of us will take the time to explain EVERYTHING about a turbosystem since you know nothing. Read a book or search through the archives.

LOL speak for your self dude! Since your reply's are so useless. I just asked questions. Plus I'm having a hard time, because i'm french, so just don't reply to my thread next time. I don't need your comments.

speak for yourself.. mavisky has been giving some pretty good information that i didn't even know about.. you seem knowledgable and have answered a few questions i've had in other threads but give the kid a break we are all here to help each other and share knowledge in the fight against rice!! LOL ;)

oh drop the attitude. he had some genuine questions and i'm helping him, sure we could do this on an instant message basis, but then i'd have to do it all over again when someone else has the same questions.

Honda, I was talking to EvuLFleA boy. I think his reply was not appropriated. Maybe I don't know much, but I know basic about turbo systems.

Mavisky helped me and I really appreciate. Maybe he care more about help, then sh1t talk? By the way, New member like me, will always come and ask the same damn questions... it's like a circle, and that's normal.

Peace out

Charles
