Hello
I have an 96 eclipse gs with 81000 miles on it and its in a perfect condition except couple scratches on on the paint, the engine is perfect as well as suspension etc plus some bolts-on. Today I drove by one place where they sell eclipses and talons, and I found 95 eagle talon with 100000 miles on it. The guy gave me a ride and now this car stuck in my head. Talon got T3/T4 turbo, 3 inch exhaust and turbo timer plus coil overs, engine looks much worster than mine and on the bottom of the car I noticed oil, like the oil pan and other parts near to it were in oil. The guy said this car in a perfect condition(looks like) but Im not sure. It selling for $5000 but if I trade my car i gotta pay about 2000/2500 also.
So what you guys can say about it? Im not trusting the guy that its in a good condition and i dont need to invest mone to fix it later, plus the difference is kind of high for a car with 100000 miles! So whats you all think about it?

Never should have gotten in the car! LOL. ...happened to me as well. I think I was better off back when me and my RS never knew what boost was. :p

You don't jump on the first deal you come across. If the engine bay looks as bad as you say it does (i'm assuming just plain dirty/nasty looking) and you say it looks like it's leaking oil, I bet it would be safe to assume it may not have been taken care of all that well. But thats the thing, you never know with a used car. Take that and add in the fact that it has been modified I bet it is safe to assume that the car may have been beaten on a bit, and it's a little up there in miles.

If you really have your heart set on getting a 4g63 now, take your time and shop around. Sell your car privately, you'll be able to get more for it then on a trade in. Hell, I sold my 97 RS not too long ago with 100k+ miles on it for 5k.

ya i found a GSX with 100k miles on it. the turn around would have cost me about $3k. even tho i like the AWD, my car still has less than 70k miles, so i just decided im gonna turbo mine instead. is that car AWD or not? if not, if i were you i would just use that $2500 to buy a turbo kit.

Good luck whatever you do :thumb:

Yeah about a year ago i found a 95 gsx for sale test drove it looked just like my car except mine was way cleaner i looked under the hood and was shocked to see oil all over the place dirtiest engine i ever saw, you would think if youre gonna sell it to clean that ### up.

I didnt trade my car. I went to that place today, Turbo Talon is gone but the guy told me he's gonna give me a call if they receive a turbo with less than 80000 miles on it. No its not AWD.
By the way im thinking to buy a cheapest turbo dsm, than sell mine GS and on this money rebuilt turbo dsm.
2500 is just a turbo kit, but besides that how bout computer and all wiring plus exhaust etc - those not cheap even excluding labor. But i love my gs and not feeling like sell it or trade, so i might do the 4g63 swap with all wiring and ecu. Probably this is the best way!!!

you already have exaust  but i hope to get a turbo kit and rebuild the bottom end for that $2500. you can save some money and scrap your own turbo kit together like me. im figuring $1000, $1500 tops. then i will rebuild, then the boost is going up up up!!!. labor is no problem cause im doing it myself. if you have some basic tools and any mechanical skills im sure you can do it too. well maybe i shouldnt say that cause mine isnt done :p
