If anyone has headers on a non turbo eclipse, does it really help in performance? Does it make your engine or exhaust louder?

i have headers, high flow cat and cat-back and i felt a gain from each peice.matter of fact i think the header gave me the best.the exhaust helped but i popped the header on and it pulled harder.

i have asked the same question and i have a 98 GS. i was told that there are almost no gains to adding an aftermarket header to our engines and that if fvcks up the sound. i don't know about na90dsm but i'll take his word for it. i was told to just get the stock header ported and save the 300 bucks for other more useful mods.

a stock ported will give you basic gains for... yes a lot less money, and while your at it port the and polish the t.b. and intake mainfold.

i really didnt gain that much at all,not like amazing gains.it flows a little bet better than stock.the only regret i have is the cat-back.for some reason, the pacesetter muffler sounds like they kidnapped a duck and is stragling it in the muffler.it i had the chance i wouldve waited and got a different cat back.the header works great i think i got like maybe 5 hp outta the header.maybe ill put on a hks muffler.

Headers do make a difference. The amount of HP gained depends on more than just the header. You have to look at the whole package (down pipe, cat, full exhaust, intake, cams, etc.) Think of your engine as an air pump. The easier it is to pump air (and fuel) into the engine and back out (exhaust) the more power you will make. The biggest gains will be made by removing the biggest restriction (worst flowing parts). I'm sure you will see some type of a gain by installing a header. Also, don't forget the tuning end of it either. I've seen alot of parts go on cars and not make a difference (or slow the car down) because the owner/installer didn't recalibrate or compensate for the added flow with proper tuning.

just a few questions, how much would it cost to port and polish my stock headers, tb, and intake manifold? where do i have this done at? how much do i port..... i dunno.. i need the basic run down of this please ;)
