locked up tranny

i don't know what is exactly wrong, you can shift into first gear and move the shifter into where 2nd gear would be but it still stays in first, and you can't even move the shifter over to 3rd 4th 5th reverse or nuetral. The tranny is stuck in first gear. To work on it do i have to take the whole tranny out or is there a plate or something i can remove to see if i can see a problem?

-Have you try moving the 2 levers on top of the tranny by hand, to see if they move? Might be something have gotten lose and jaming the shifter.

yep tried moving those i beat on it with a hammer and it is only the one that is stuck, the other one moves fine.
