At what hp do you need a Walbro fp, vs a Denso fp?

hey i currently have a denso 155 lt. fuel pump with a rre small 16g.

i'm planning on going to the forced performance green turbo. at what hp do you need the 255 lt. walbro fp.

with a green you would definitely want the Walbro 255hp.. i dont know what the direct hp rating is but anything over a 16G, Big28 type style turbo would really be better suited with a 255 IMHO..

Walbro's are extremely noisy. The previous owner had one in the car I just picked up. The racket it made was completely unacceptable. Moved in my trusty Denso Supra pump from my old car and can't hear it at all.

My Point? Avoid the Walbro and get the next step up in the Denso line. Plus the Walbro requires modifying the wiring harness. If you already have a Denso in it will be a straight swap.

I'm sending someone to check for the presence of testosterone in your body. Are you looking to make horsepower, or have the nice quiet ride of a Lexus? If it's the latter, then you sure as hell drive the wrong car. You haven't HEARD a loud fuel pump yet.

Relax Aslan. Most people are not willing to put up with some things that you and I would. My parents cant deal with my poly motor mount and cams. I however could care less about vibration at idle. However unlike the motor mounts there is a different fuel pump option. The Supra pump is 10x quieter it flows better than even the 255hp and it’s a bit more. Personally I think its worth it for most people to spend the extra dough and save the headache.

Ps What are we going to have to do to get you to use the quote function?

It's just kinda my trademark. I've never bothered to use it before, and I've gotten along just fine. Seriously, maybe I have gone deaf to such things but a Walbro 255lph pump is not in ANY way loud. Not even a little bit. You have to seriously be listening for it to even hear it. Then again, I've had Bosch externals, Paxton Blue, etc. I think saying the 'racket the Walbro causes is intolerable' is a completely ridiculous statement. But then again, its just my opinion.

I had an sx pump, it annoyed the living sh*t out of me. I have a supra pump now.

Aslan remember that FWDs won't notice as much noise from the fuel pump because there is more sound deadening in the way.

Maybe it's just me then. I'm quite a bit more hardcore than most people, so stuff like that doesn't even bother me. Frankly, I don't even notice it. When I got my Walbro in my first DSM, I wished it was louder. Go figure... I can't wait till the Paxton Blue goes on...

I have the Walbro 255HP and I can (or could before I put in my Webs recently hear it when I come to a stop or at idle...IF I am listening for it. It is NOT bothersome to me at all. I mean, if noise bothered me I wouldn't be able to set foot in this car!!! You want noise, try running 20psi on a 20G at 8000rpm on an externally dumped 40mm Tail WG. Now that's noise!!! But go*dam*it it's a beautiful sound!

First off, Aslan, is it your goal to be a jerk to everyone? It's working, good job. People have opinions and tastes, you don't gotta harp on some guy cause he doesn't want a whiny fuel pump. My walbro whines but it doesn't bother me, but some ppl are different.

Second, Walbro makes more than just the 255, they make the 190 which is good alternative b/c you don't need an adj. FPR, which you need if you get the big ol 255 or the Supra. Yes, people may say "I don't feel my car running bad w/ out one" but in fact your car will have too much fuel pressure, especially in the upper RPM's, and an adj. FPR which LOWERS (not B&M) base fuel pressure will help you to better tune the car.

If you took my above comments THAT badly, then I think you need some counseling, or may I suggest at least St. Johns Wort? Perhaps you don't see the underlying theme here. You are upgrading your fuel pump. It's an electric motor. You are flowing more fuel. YES, it's going to make more noise! That's like saying, I want to take my 195HP DSM and make 600HP with NO compromise to driveability or fuel economy. I want a clutch that will hold the power, I read on everyone's site that the ACT2900 6 puck is going to have a heavy pedal, and potentially chatter from time to time. I read all the warnings, but I buy one anyway. Then I come on to an internet forum, and complain that my clutch is too heavy, and that it chatters from time to time. See sig for comment on ignorance. When you upgrade parts, WHY are you upgrading them? When you changed the stock exhaust for a 3 inch straight through system, did you think it was going to be quieter? Well then why would you think the same thing of a fuel pump, which is nothing more than an electric motor???? It doesn't make any sense! I could have REALLY ripped into this conversation if I wanted to, but I didn't, and you STILL took what I said out of context and made it sound like I'm a jerk. Why not look at the whole picture, instead of holding on to the left wing and getting you panties into a bunch because 'he called me a wee-wee head.' For God's sake this country needs to grow a pair!!

There's a word for the sound of fuel pump whine. It's called intimidating! When you see a bad ass 'Stang line up at the track, and you hear that noisy Aeromotive fuel pump buzzing away, there's a certain intimidation, and coolness factor. Import guys simply do not understand this for some reason. But Lord knows fuel pump whine is much more tacky than say, clear tailights or a 3 level wing..

Personally I like my car as quit and stock looking as possible. That inline pump might sound cool, but now you're on to them.
I like sleepers. I want my car to appear to be some 15sec pos four banger. People are more likely to put money down

Aren't YOU a DSM'er? I didn't take your comments badly, and if you READ my post, I said I don't mind my fuel pump whine, but some do and that factors into their decision. People don't need to hear how they're pussies or whatever if they don't want a whiny fuel pump, etc. and want their car a certain way. And owning a car isn't all about how FAST you can go, as I recall cars can turn, stop, and provide transportation as well.

Quite frankly, no. I am a car enthusiast. I don't fall into the typical DSM'er category at all. I just happen to have one. I also had 2 RX-7's, and am doing a Twin Turbo 358cid buildup.

Let's stick to one thing at a time here. Did you install your exhaust to help you turn? How about stop? Did your exhaust improve your car as a means of transportation? Using your logic, does a fuel pump help you turn? How about stop? And did it REALLY (other than a possible decrease in gas mileage, but that's the price you pay for..umm...HORSEPOWER) adversely affect your car as a means of transportation? The answer is no. The point is, you modify the car for more power (in this case, nitpicking one) not for a quieter ride, etc. If he's THAT concerned with noise, then install two factory pumps instead.
