im bout to go from the stock turbo in my 97 gst not tryin to go to crazy just mid to low 13s which turbo should i go with the big t28 or the big 16g and do both of these bolt right on?

I would recommend the big t28, because they do not require an installation kit which will cost you more than $100.

what about the special from turbochargers.com doesnt that come with the install kit for the 16g? and whats the difference between the two turbos

I would tell you the 16G. Yeah it requires the install kit but many people have run the T28 and decided they could not get the performance they wanted from it. They later install a 16G and then say something along the line of "wow there is no comparison".

The 16g from turbochargers.com I dont care if it puts the same power out as a t28 the thing is ITS BRAND NEW!!! why spend the same amount for a turbo that is used and rebuilt to a new spec when you can buy a BRAND NEW turbo from the factory and all you need is a EASY ass install kit? Please tell me. Go with the 16g from turbochargers.com!

IMHO the 16g and T28Killer are a pretty even match. Alot will depend on your ability and capability to tune. I say T28 killer. Two reasons:

1) I've watched a friend with this setup closely and know what it can do. Walk a vette from a light and in very good contention at the moment to dip into the 12s. Oh and he's also a bad tuner  Love u Andy!

2) It's a variant of my turbo and from the company that supports me. I'm bias toward turbochargers, but at the same time it's not b/c of what I got. Thier support was offered only after I dared talking to them and visiting their facility. Give them a shout and chat with Wade.

Either turbo u will not be disappointed with. The 16G may have a bit more umph top end, but I wouldn't expect much. Installation wise, the Killer is a snap. The only things u will require for the 16G is the j-pipe (or u can just custom your IC track) and the oil feed line. How do I know this, b/c I'm using a Mitsu chartridge on a 2G and that's the same hook up as the 16G. It's not bad at all.

aight thanks alot for your comments i ended up going with the 16g but now i was wondering how big of an intercooler i would need and how much about i was looking at a greddy one if any one knows anything about those

Will th 28killer fit onto a 1g with a 2g exhuast manifold? and will i need the optional install 2g kit to go with the big 16g??

you'll need to get a diff side mount intercooler. your 1G one is meant to use mitsu turbos and the bottem inlet hole tilts upwards towards the turbo to recieve the "j-pipe" lower IC pipe. The Big28 Killer was meant to be used as a direct bolt on for 2g's and is aimed right at the lower IC opening so i dont know if it will fit. you might be better off going with a mitsu housing

does anyone have anything good to say about getting the 16g on the homepage? ie, dealing with the company, quality of product, etc?

Sounds like my turbo is going, I've had the car for only a few months, no mods yet, I have 1G BOV/Brode UICP waiting to go in, and for the 16 I'd probably just get a used starion FMIC.

Also, 16 or big16? The difference from turbochargers.com in price doesn't seem to be that much, is it worth it to get the big16? will i be making more trouble for myself?

1995 Eclipse GST (1G motor), stock turbo, 93K miles.

I won't ask what the supporting mods would be, since I'm sure it's been asked and that's what the search button is for :) but I'd rather have a new, better turbo than replace or rebuild mine.

thanks!

thanks, sounds good. now I have to decide what turbo is best for me, whether its rebuilding the stock turbo, or going 16, big16, or something else... thanks again (was hoping more people backed you up in your thread ;) )
