General What's needed to tune for bigger injectors?

I am looking into putting bigger injectors into my 91 talon. I think I should go with the 550cc injectors?
My questions are:
Do I need to do an aftermarket fuel computer at the same time, or will it be OK with the stock computer and stock fuel rail until I can get to these other mods?

Also I know that there are like 3 bolts that hold down the fuel rail. the injectors just push in correct. I havent taken one out yet so I dont know but is there a certain way they have to go back in!

i dont think youll need the 550s until you upgrade your turbo.. I could be wrong but I thought the stock injectors were fine for the 14B unless your really pushing alot of boost..

and yes the only thing that holds down the rail is the 3 bolts, the fuel lines on both sides of the rail and the clips that go into the injectors themselves

Yep: the injectors sit in the head on-top of some O-rings, then after that they're hung from electrical clips, and steadied finally by their seating in the fuel rail. Just a word to the soon to be wiser, Be Sure You Don't Drop Your Spacers From the 3 Bolts into the Abyss that is your Engine. <--- frustrating as heck to dig back out.

whats the point of those spacers though really, i lose 2 of mine and my fuel rail still bolts down just fine

I was running between 15 to 17 psi, but I have turned it back down.
The reason I thought to go with bigger injectors is because my fuel seems to have nasty hole. When the car starts to reach about 14psi the car acts as if its not getting enough fuel, just starts to cut out. especially on a cold day when the turbo really spools up fast.
I have already replace the stock fuel pump, unless the new one is not working properly. and I think if I had a vacuum leak I would notice it at a lower psi or even at idle? Yes.

What do you guys think could be causing this little problem?

Back to my first question, dose anyone know if I have to put in an aftermarket fuel controller If I do replace the injectors? just for future reference.

I would say that putting in an Apex'i or some other form of fuel controll is the way to go. I bought the AFC and did nothing with it for a while until I installed my 550's. You can push way too much gas at idle on stockers, so I would guess at idle the aftermarket injectors would be dumping a ton of unburnable gas.

don't jsut stick 550 injectors in your car without some sort of fuel control computer or hacking the maf.

with a 14b, you won't lean it out, but you might be hitting fuel cut. your options to get rid of fuel cut:
550 injectors and some way of making the ecu see less MAF signal (that's what ecu is basing fuel cut on anyway...root of the problem)
afc works wonders here..

or...TMO reprogramed ecu....takes out fuel cut...that's $300 though.

Nate.. you forgot the simplest of all solutions here. Reinstall the stock 450s & remove the lower honeycomb (the square one). Good luck getting anything from TMO right now. The SAFC would be the next option, or a 2g maf to offset the 550s. Just a couple of options.. #1 would be the cheapest.

I hit fuel cut with stock 14B @ 16psi, Walbro 255 Fuel Pump, S-AFC, 1G MAS lower honeycomb removed.. This was during the colder months.

I have now installed 660's.. and will be installing a 2G MAS and Garret T3/T4 50 trim turbo in the next few weeks..

I have a 92 NT Talon, and it needs new injectors because the old ones are the stock ones that came with the car and they are BEYOND fouled. I have opened up my cars intake as much as I can and opening the exhaust in a month or two, so what are some good injectors for a slug NT that aren't over the top and will just drown the NT engine?

91talontsiIA in order to put bigger injectors in you will want something simliar to the SAFC. You can do lots of other things to get more or less fuel. You said you have an aftermarket FP did you do the FP rewire mod? Also an adjustable FPR can be used because the 1G on have a fuel pressure of 36PSI that gives you a static rate of 411cc injectors, you can turn it up to 43 and then you have the static rate of 450's. Then you can play with taking your honeycombs like the other mentioned. Goblin I thought you where getting a new car?!

The new car isn't in the cards this year. I'm already taking out student loans for tuition and expenses and crap. I figured if I could do lots of small inexpensive crap to my car and make it a little faster (or just sound and look fast, a total rice car.) then I could sell it to some moron for more than it's worth and put all of that towards a Turbo AWD one.

So dose anyone know where to find a good description of the fuel pump rewire mod? something with a little better disription of were to run the wire once under the hood? I know what to do once Im past the fire wall.

run it thru your steering column where you should have had a boost gauge run through, but go to VFAQ for details...for fuel pump rewire. but if u are picky like me, u can tear apart your whole side panel and run it under there.

You do not need bigger injectors. Your car probably runs rich as it is. You need to either buy new stock injectors or have yours cleaned.

No car runs rich with 10 year old fouled factory injectors, especially when the exhaust smells cleaner than the air in most cities and not like burnt fuel.
