hey.. when i power shift my car like in between the gears if i keep my foot on the accelerator all the way when it comes into gear it doesn't pull hard it is almost like it slips and wants to come into gear slowly and smoothly, however, when i double clutch it and just pound on the clutch while in gear it grabs and takes off like a mother f$#$er!!!
what the heck is that all about ne one know?

It sounds to me like your clutch slips when you power shift. You may have glazed the friction surfaces. The difference in the shifting styles is that the second you mentioned lets the clutch engage fully before it takes on the power. In the first shifting method the clutch is slipping until it can catch up, the heat produced can destroy the clutch.

ok well im new to driving a clutch so not to cause a fight or anything but what is it called when you go from first to third to fifth? and what exactly is speed shifting?

i just basically slam mine into gear (red line, mash clutch, and rip the shifter into gear)........ but be warrey if your tranny isn't built to handle it within a year or less you'll destroy your syncros

As for your double clutching, I guess it works or whatever, but I never saw any gains, so I guess that's why I don't do it. I don't even power shift either and I have lifetime warantee clutches. It's just not needed to do that kind of ****.

As for shifting in 3-5, sometimes it's a good idea. Such as if I am running on the vard, and I am reving at like 4-5K, I want to make sure that I can just hit an overdrive because I am at the speed limit. So I drop to 5th gear, my rpms are like at 2-2.5, and then I can just cruise with better mileage.
