Im wondering what the buttons in the picture are... the ones circled :)
I know on the right that one is hazards and the other is rear defroster, but I dont know any of the others

damnit, the pic wont attach. on 1g dsms, there are some black buttons on each side of the gagues. 3 on the left and 3 on the right, what are they?

on the right its flashers/rear defrost/rear wiper
on the left its fake/"brightness of gauges" switch/and fogs

so the oval one on the right is rear wiper? do the 1ga's really need the rear wiper? cause I would like to use that space for a switch :)

also, on the left, are you saying that one of the buttons is fake and doesnt to anything, the other does something with the brightness of the gagues (wtf?) and the third puts on the fog lights?

thats right... i dont have my car to make 100% sure but on the left i believe the top one is fake and the middle one you can turn it to make the gauges dimmer... and the bottom is the fogs... your looking for a good place for switches? if you have a man. trans there is a coin holder up above the shift boot... it popes right out... holds 3 rocker switches perfectly.

I dont have the car yet, but it will be a stick. and Im not so keen on the idea of the switches being so close to the shifter...

what I think I might do is just turn the gagues to a good brightness, totally eliminate that button, and rewire it so that on the left there is (top to bottom):
rear wiper - rear defroster - fogs
and on the right it is:
hazards (flashers) - switch 1 - switch 2

the first switch would be for a exhaust dump (www.quicktimeperformance.com) and the second would be for a turboXS dual stage boost controller :D

the rear wiper button is too big to fit into the holes on the left side.. but im sure you could do that... if you wanted to modify your dash

idk though, all the bottons are in a lil thing all together... it would be pretty hard to do all that... youll understand when you see.

wait, the wiper is the big oval one? ok... change of plans.... LOL.

left would be hazards rear defroster fogs, right would be switch switch wiper.... and Im sure its totally possible, im good at disassembling things :)

The "fake" button on 1G's with pop ups actually does something. It will pop up the lights so you can work on them.

I kinda like to fake my lights it kinda looks cool that way. I keep it up at nights so that I don't keep flipping it up and down all the time to save it from straining the pop ups.
