my car is throwing out white smoke when i let off the gas after the turbo has spooled, it only does it when the turbo spools. I gutted the cat and no muffler also been running the turbo at 16psi, it just started and only 70k on engine, pulled spark plugs and they have a heavy white residue on the ground electrode. Only fuel upgrades are the b&m command flo, got the k&n fipk also has after market wires. Any ideas on what could be causing this?

it also does this crap when im on the gas hard it will just suddenly die and make this loud a$$ pop noise, i turned down boost to 14psi but still smokey. It only smokes when i let off the gas after i have spooled the turbo, like when i shift under a load, pretty sure its oil smoke, not fuel

if its just when you shift or let off the gas, could be valve seat seals. happened to me. smoking at shifts. course now it just smokes constantly.

Well it could be a lot of things dude. But if you are running 16psi with no fuel mods then your running lean plain and simple...plugs are white/hot > lean... It could be valve seals, headgasket or anythign of that nature. Does it smell, or is it colored blue tint (oil)?

The stutter is most likely fuel cut. Keep boost down until you get some fuel mods in there.

o it friggin smells like burnt butt hole dude, it wreaks when it does it, also when it started doin the stuff when it would totally cut out for a second and make that loud pop noise

Oh yeah I know what burnt butthole smells like --looks around-- ;)
The popping is prolly just fuel cut and doesnt really have to do with the smoke if it is. I assume by "burnt butthole" your not really burning butthole...you just think it smells bad :p Like what? Burning oil? Have you done a leakdonw test on it?

dude it just wreaks, do they make a fuel cut defensor for our cars? it smells worse than like when you see an old car going down the road smoking

Well Im not sure how to help you then. Fuel cut is there for a reason dude. No need ot get a defender for it, you are running lean and fuel cut is preventing you from hurting your motor. When you upgrade later down the road (more fuel) fuel cut should go away. I cant really help you out with the smelly problem though... maybe you should just get some more air freshners...

anybody else with some ideas? its only smoking after having a load on the turbo, normal street driving has no smoke, somebody has to know something

my car was spewing white smoke when i blew my turbo, it started out as just white smoke shootin out when i gunned it, but it got worse and worse, and after about 10days, the turbo was done and it smoked like a space shuttle when the car was just at idle

Fuel cut has nothing to do with a lack of fuel. It has to do with the ECU seeing more air then it thinks it should, so it cuts the fuel to protect itself from overboosting. Adding more fuel to the mix would do nothing if the ECU thinks it is still seeing too much air. What you need is a fuel controller of some kind (safc, dsmlink, etc...) to get around the ECU, or just turn the boost down.

Thorin,

I know exactly what fuel cut is, I just didnt make myself clear. By more fuel I meant when he upgrades to afc and larger injectors... But thanks

My guess is it's your turbo. I highly doubt you're getting fuel cut. Check your turbo for shaft play....

no shaft play and the turbine wheel even spins freely. I have no clue on whats going on

running to lean.... turn down the boost!

my car makes white smoke at startup and tapers off as the car gets closer to running temp. I dont have a cat, but dont all cars make white smoke when they are cold?

I changed out my plugs a couple days ago, (NGK stock heat range), and noticed that they too had plenty of white coloration on the ground electrode. the boost has crept too high on occasion the past couple months since I put my DP on, but I catch it quickly and back off. Do the white grounds nessesarily mean bad-bad joo-joo, or just indicating a lean condition? (which of course could be "dangerously" lean or "okay" lean...)

anywho, I went one step colder on the new plugs. would that help the problem?
