Got her back today, runs a lot better than she did, but still rich (I think). It backfires nearly every time I let off the gas while in gear. XD

Hopefully my new plugs dont foul before I get it tuned this weekend.

Oh, and I burnt up my first Tial wastegate gasket already. D'oh!

Im going to order some of those metal "fire ring" wastegate gaskets asap.

Anyway, checked all the couplings, dont have a noticable boost leak. I also searched around, and found that fuel cut feels like "hitting a wall," so maybe its not that at all.

At ~3500-4000 the car just stops accelerating as fast, seems to bog down even. I think my missing link may still be an issue, but Im not exactly sure what its supposed to do as boost increases.

Help me, o great NT with T tuners! :coy:

In my opinion, I would sell the missing link..I hear so many people complain about them messing up, or some thing about the filter. I KNOW I KNOW before anyone goes saying.."well I've had mine for x amount of time and haven't had problems" that some people don't have a problem with it. I've never seen any complaints about FCD though. I'm not sure of the cost differences..It just seems better.

Maybe someone with one could enlighten us..

The upside I see is that everything is electronic with an FCD. You leave no room for mechanical failure this way.

Good thing us 95's don't need anything to control MAP signals... :D

An FCD is a really simple device though. In fact, I could make an FCD for under $10... all it is, is a voltage regulator. I actually just found a variable voltage regulator from a new circuit manufacturer online.

It's funny this came up, because I was thinking to myself, "what could I make out of a var. volt. reg.?"

It'd be pretty cool if anyone's interested. You could pinpoint where you want the ECU to stop reading MAP voltage - 4.60V? 4.65V? 4.70V? Whatever you want, just turn of the knob a little.

FCD sounds like a good idea. Ive got the ML working good for now, but if its going to be problematic, Im going to get rid of it.

Now if I can just fix this horrible exhaust leak (stupid Tial wastegate gaskets) I think Ill be good to go until rebuild time.

The forged goodies piggy bank has been started! :)

The best way to try and run the 450cc injectors is to use a SFMU so you can lower the Static and Idle pressure. An SAFC would be a good idea to fine tune with but many have reported that it wasnt reqd when using the SFMU.

I ran 450cc injectors on mine and achieved a good idle that was only a small amount richer than stock. My problem was during startup the factory ECU could detect the SAFC and it would throw a map code on cold start up only. If I shut down and cleared the code and restarted, the ECU wouldnt care. Some 97+ have an issue with the SAFC some dont.

For the money you spend on SFMU, and SAFC, you could buy a used 8 inj or New MS setup.

Well, I finally got on it hard some today, only to find out my car wont make but 4lbs of boost, and its slower than it was NT after 4000rpms!

ruh rohz...

explain the symptoms......boost leak?

Thats all of them. It builds boost fine, but stops at 4lbs, no matter what gear or rpm. And it accelerates good, up until 4000 rpm, when it gets slow as balls.

Did you check for any boostleaks yet?

Keep us posted

No boost leaks. Ive noticed that I only have the lag at 4000 rpms when Im accelerating hard, but not at WOT. When I throw it down WOT, the car gets on along, with only a slight hesitation at four grand, not bogging down.

I think I need to redo the vacuum line for the FMU.

Oh, and at WOT, the car makes 6lbs of boost. Thats about right after the intercooler, right?

Huh?

Oh. My wastegate has a 7.25psi spring in it. If my FMIC has an average pressure drop of about a pound, then ~6psi boost pressure is right.

Ahhh ok LOL, next time say after the pressure drop..I'm sure most people knew what you meant anyways...Sounds about right though

Oh no! How'd that happen?!

Sorry to hear the bad news.

On the other hand, good excuse for a carbon fiber hood?

This is a sad day:toobad:...lets take a moment...............Ok what happened? Hopefully everything is alright? The turbo and intercooler? I am sorry to hear or see that man...all that hard work, I hope wasn't for nothing. Let us know what happened and what the 411 is on the wounded dsm? OMG

That sucks man! Let us know what happened...

On the other hand, I would never get a carbon fiber hood, or even suggest doing so...Traction is so precious and delicate for us FWD guys...I personally would not want to take weight off of the front wheels..

I crested that hill in the background of the second pic there, right into stopped rush hour traffic, at about 40mph. I slammed on the brakes, but had no chance.

The "victim" left, turns out they had no insurance and expired license, so technically Im not at fault I guess, but even so, I dont have collision on it, so Ive gotta pay to get it fixed out of pocket.

Front bumper cracked in many places, intercooler pipes dented, radiator cracked I believe, fans pushed up against the turbo and downpipe, both headlights cracked and one foglight broken, and of course, the hood. No fuel or oil leaking, but I dont know the status on the vaccum lines or the a/c system yet.

I dont know what its going to cost to get this thing running again yet. I had it towed to a body shop Ive worked with before, and Im waiting for an estimate on it now.

Im not sure what Im going to do now.

Thats really ashame man, I hope you can get it all fixed up. The same thing happened to one of my friends a little over a year ago. He was coming up a hill and on the top there was a line of traffic waiting for a school bus to go. He hit the car going around 40-50mph but definatley had more damage than you did. I really hope everything turns out alright for you, the build was awesome, maybe when its done you'll be able to tune all the bugs out of it.

True, but he didn't get rear-ended, so I couldn't recommend a carbon fiber hatch. :sneaky:

Dude that's unfortunate, but I am sure it will be one bad-a@& force to be reckoned w/ when you get it back. Hope the bill doesn't burn a whole man. I hear ya though. I did the same thing...w/ a little different circumstances, but it was all out of pocket $$$$!!! Not cool. :|

I slid into someone last winter goin like 9mph and got a monstrous dent in my drivers door....haven't fixed it yet. It adds character and makes me more aerodynamically sound LOL plus it adds to my whole sleeper look, goin along with the black rattle can bumper and hood ;)
