Did you get the flange fixed yet? I wouldn't dyno-tune until everything that you can fix is fixed...Seriously...

Im going to let TurboTune do what they need to do to it. Im still not sure if the gasket is bad, or if one of the flanges are warped. But they have replacement gaskets, and they can plane the flange if need be.

Im taking it down next Wednesday to let them look it over really good. Then, after I finish breaking it in, and everything is ok like you said, then dyno time.

Will do. I wont be doing much boosting till I take this thing down to the local turbo shop and get a wideband dyno tune put on it next Saturday or so.

I know you're getting it fixed, but it doesn't matter if you would be boosting. When you turn the car on, that gas will be passing that gasket, burning it. The higher the RPM you drive, NOT boost, the more gas goes by it, the hotter it gets, the quicker it goes.

Glad to see you're getting it fixed:thumb:

Oh great, my coolant reservoir is full of oil. I guess my head gasket is blown? Now I dont know what the heck to do.

Really? Man...Did you boost heavy or anything like that at any time? There COULD be more problems than that, with the other symptoms you were describing..Lets hope not though. Run a compression test and tell us what you get..

Sorry to hear about that man...:(

No, no more than 1lb, because of the fuel cut problems. Im not really sure if its even engine oil. Im hoping its just a headgasket though. This car is the only car I own.

Beautiful! Thats so clean. Good work with your IC piping... cleanest custom job I've seen in a while. Great work!

wait till you see my 420a short route ic piping tech article ;)

XMasta19 is more helpful than not

Compression test results:

170-170-170-180

CEL code: Bank 1 rich.

And the shop guys said whatever that is in the coolant reservoir isnt motor oil. Im having em change the valve cover gasket, plugs, wires, and take care of that exhaust leak while they have it. Then Im going with my original plan of having TurboTune hook up a wideband 02 sensor to it and tuning it some.

Still cant figure out why so rich at ~1000 rpms, and fuel cut at around -10psi vac.

Thanks a mil dude. Its a big weight off my shoulders, thats for sure. I couldnt even sleep last night. :p

That is one sweet project you got going there. Hope everything is well with the car. I can buy one of these cars with a stage one turbo kit, but it is blown up and I dont have the time, but it sure would be sweet to have a car like this.

Props for a sweet build

Hey, I see you have the HKS SSQV also. Does yours flutter at low boost?

are you sure it's fuel cut? try tighting all your couplers again.

My couplers? You think maybe I have a boost leak?

Do you have the newer model SSQV? I guess the newer ones do not have an adjustable spring rate. Mine does not flutter at all. Now the SSQV is a dual stage pull type BOV. Mine has never fluttered at low boost. It should release excess boost only when there is a pressure alteration in the chambers. And not by the rate of boost pressure or vacuum in the line. Now it might be that because the SSQV incorporates both a small primary valve for quick activation, and a larger secondary valve for additional discharge capacity. That might be were your flutter is coming from. Or there could be something wrong with your BOV. Now that I think about it mine did flutter a little at low boost. But I hardly ever noticed it. My car is all torn apart and its been that way since last fall. I have older model HKS BOV so who knows. I am prob getting a different style when the rebuild is complete

yes. i don't know why but for along time when i would ease into the throttle it would studder. but when i tightened the couplers it worked great

Ok, Ill ask em to check into that for me, thanks!

Yeah, I have a new one, and it doesnt have the set screw.

It only flutters now (thanks to the awesome advice I got in this thread about the vaccum lines) at 0lbs or less, but I was just curious. When I hit boost and let off or shift or whatnot, it makes a nice whistle. Its apparently just valve flutter from the bov itself (like you said with the primary valve), but I didnt know if everybody had it or not. I kinda like the sound, and fluttering at 0lbs of boost is not a problem.

Good luck getting your car back together! :thumb: :dsm:
