Ok ive got a problem and im completly lost now.

New tranny from Shep car will shift in 1,2,3,4 but 5 and R i cant find at all inside with the stick...get out of the car and go down where the levers are under the engine and i can find them good.

Now when i start the car i cant find any gear at all, HOWEVER if i put it in gear with the car off the clutch will hold and the car doesnt move unless i let out.

So im lost as to whats going on, some help would be great

You may want to try adjusting the cables outside the car or adjusting the actual shifter inside the car. If you take the boot off you can adjust a few things inside the car. you may also want to check the gear lube oil which is a pain but it could be that too. Maybe check for any leaks too.

does anyone know if shephard changes the throw in the tranny? when i took it out the tranny shifted good...and now i cant shift it at all

still wouldnt explain why i cant get it into gear while the car is running

Did you get back the same trans you sent?Did you install the rubber grommets and bushings where they belong on the shifter cable tower(bracket on the trans)? If you left these out and just used big flat washers, you just have adjustment issues. The cable closest to the engine block needs to pull forther back.If you were sent a different trans in exchange,it may be earlier or later than what you had,and you may need the shift cable tower that is for that trans.I believe Shep sends back your same trans unless your core was bad.

yea i put the bushings back on...i know for a fact the clutch is engaging all the day, it feels like somthing is binding when trying to get into gear while the car is running

5th is way off to the right, so much i cant even find it while the car is off, so is reverse...is it possible at all the shift linkages could be backwards?

I can't speak for Shep, but I would think he would enhance what you already have in relation to durability and ease of operation. If any other changes were made I'm sure he would tell you. First, check that the little plastic block is in the trans on the shifter pin. It's right where the shifters inter link together. See if that's there. Secondly, You wondered if the cables were crossed? Have someone move your shifter in the neutral position. Move it far left and far right through the center gate. The cables are right if the shaft raises and lowers in the trans. If you are actuating the one that moves left to right, then yes, they would be crossed. However you said 5th is all the way right. That kind of tells me it may be an adjustment issue. Remove the shift boot and observe which way the cable goes when you move the shifter. If it doesn't seem to move far enough, then slightly adjust in the direction you want to go. Go in small increments until you achieve your desired result.

Do that first and post your results.

Good Luck
