alright, first, i posted earlier that i was not reading vacuum on my autometer and someone else asked where to t the lines to run the boost gauge. in non-ca 1gs it is the vacuum line closest to the fender. i t'ed the other one and read only boost. i hope that helps with the guy who asked the question and anyone who might search for an answer. i know viewing the pic out of the fsm is was rather confusing since the other line for the ca cars was in it.

next, i installed my profec b today. useless mod right now as i do not have the mods to support upping the boost, but it was an impulse purchase and it lights up. anyways, boost dropped to 9.8 ish. i knew that would happen, but what i didn't expect was that i cannot turn the boost back up to stock levels. it stays there even after turning up the "set" reading to 10% and the "set gain" to 5. it stays at 9.8ish. everything is mounted and routed correctly. i do need to move the valve as it is too close to the turbo i think, and may get too warm. anybody have an idea as to what my problem is here. do i need to turn it up more. i'm afraid to do too much with it. and no, no logger yet, waiting on the rest of my stuff from pocketlogger.com.

thanks,
ben

First off, stock boost is around 7 psi. Even with no mpods you can run like 13 or 14 psi without any problems. Make sure everything is hooked up correctly. Also, this happened to me, make sure your wastegate actuator is correctly attachted to the turbo housing.

thanks for the reply. knowing i can turn the boost to 13-14 helps things out a lot.
i did a little searching and came across this...
http://www.sr20forum.com/archive/index.php/t-86098.html
so i started with the 30% on the "set." and peak boost is about right according to my gauge, but the boost builds much slower. so i adjusted the "gain" (which i had turned down to 5%) and took that up to 7 or so. with it i turned the "set" down a bit. i did this until it was building boost and holding boost right about stock. i ended up with "set" at 27-28%, "gain" at 8-10%, and start boost ("set gain") at 21 or so. i just wanted to get a good baseline and see what the "stock" numbers were before i upped the boost. now ill play with it some more:)

i didn't know where else to put this, so i am putting in my thread in case anyone ever does a search for profec b and 1g. i was having trouble finding a place to mount the valve unit. at first it was too close to the turbo, and that was not good because it says it needs to be cool and dry. so today i hacked up the airbox, and cut the front mount of it completely off. it holds up fine, so thats not a big deal. but whats cool is that if you cut the circular part of the mount off, so its like a donut shape, you can use the stock bolt and that mount as a spacer and mount the valve unit in the mounting hole at the end of the filter. fits perfecting and should stay cool.

I'm having the same problem. I have the 4g63 engine swap from a 1990 galant vr4. Runs great no problems so I decided to up the boost to 14-15. Already has upgraded injectors and a warlboro 255 fuel pump. After installing an autometer boost gauge I seen it was boosting 11 psi. After that I had a Turboxs mbc installed and it still boosted at 11. Then, I turned it half a turn-nothing. Figuring it wasn't that sensitive I did another full turn- still 11 psi. Is a factory boost controller over riding it? or what? I am a newb and don't know much and did search through the internet to find an answer and this was the closest I got. Do you think I need to try turning it more?
