I am a veteran dsm guy and know that no knock sensor is not usually a good thing but have crippling phantom knock off idle and need it gone right now. I have done all the usual stuff ,new knock sensor, run premium fuel, mccc treatments, etc. I did get rid of it with eprom ecu and custom chip but am selling the car now and sold the eprom and put stock one in. I am at lowest boost possible and for sure not worried about real knock right now.
So what happens if disconnect the knock sensor. I tried it today and didn't even see a code. Will it work or will it go to some default super low tiiming safetey mode like what happens in some of my other cars.
And don't need lecture on doing it not worried about blowing engine at 10psi on premium.
So what will happen will this work?
Only other thing left to maybe try is the 3g lifters but not into spending more money on a car that I am going to sell. I have my new 97 so the 92 is history but its hard to sell something that runs like a dog do to the phantom knock problem.
