Maximum offset for wheel bearings in daily driver???

I'm wondering if a +20 offset on a 18x10" rim will be too aggressive for the wheel bearings on a daily driver under hard cornering. Please refrain from the, "why would you....." this or that comments. I'm aware the wheels won't tuck stock fenders...I'm aware 17's are more suited for handling, etc..... I just want to know much the wheel bearings can take when the car is daily driven and not constantly being pushed to the limits in EVERY corner. I assume in a track only application, this offset would really take its toll on the bearings but not sure about a daily driven setup? Also, I've always heard that 27 offset is the perfect offset for a dem but I don't know if that's only for a 1g or if it applies to a 2g as well? If it does, I would assume that +20 would be not much different than running a +35, as its still 7mm from +27 but just 7mm lower rather than higher? TIA for any insight anyone can provide.
 
+38 and +35 are about perfect for some 8" on a DSM.

Have you used the offset calculators to judge clearance to address the concerns and questions beyond the wheel bearing concern?
 
Well, the thing is. I'm not looking to tuck in the stock fenders so the calculators aren't going to tell me much, as I already know they're going to stick out past the stock fenders. I'm just trying to find out if the added strain its going to be putting on the wheel bearings is going to be a concern, even under just daily driving/spirited driving conditions?
 
I think a 20mm offset would interfere with the uprights ? I run a 10mm offset on 18x10.5 with 285/30.18 tyres - depending on the brand of tyre fitted, I need spacers up to 5mm or more to clear the upright.

My front wheel hubs last one full season plus two and a half events - the face plate (carrying the wheel studs) will shear off the hub body during the third event.

Aug 94 build 2G AWD, however it has the later uprights all round. The fronts are a bigger problem that the rears, although the rears used to have issues with the spring collars, which doesn't change regardless of which rear upright is fitted.

How in the heck are you having clearance issues with a +10??? As offset goes lower, I thought it pushed the wheel further outward allowing more clearance from the knuckles. 18x9.5 in +35 with 265/35's are suppose to JUST clear with little fender poke...... I don't understand how a +10 offset could POSSIBLY be an issue, but maybe its just because of your 285's I'm just looking to do 265/35's. Basically, this is what I'm looking to do. The car in the pic is on 265/35/18 w/+15 offset and apparently with plenty of inner clearance. I'm doing .5" smaller width with +5mm higher offset. I'm just worried that aggressive of an offset could cause wheel bearing issues. I mean, I can deal with maybe 25-30k on a set, but not every 10k for a daily driver that might see track duty one weekend a month. Anyone with an EVO or Subie maybe that can share some input? I'm thinking maybe that's the place to ask since offsets lower than +30 is more commonplace for them?

Offset in of itself will have little to do with wheel bearing wear (a minor impact really) until you get into the negative ranges.

When you are running high side loads with ultra wide, extra sticky tires, your bearings will start having some problems.

I get about 18 months (~18k miles) of DD/Autox with my front wheel bearings. It's the side loading that really kills them.

That's pretty livable to me, for a car that'll likely be tracked twice as much as mine will. I figure, I'd get somewhere around 25k, which I can handle. Thanks again!
 
I've heard that lifetime of wheels bearings on cars like those are just a couple events. But when you really start racing, there are ceramic wheel bearing options. Too pricy for a DD, but last longer.

I've been running Timken bearings. But in a pinch I had to use a generic wheel bearing from Pepboys this last time on the one side. So we'll see the wear difference soon enough.

I would say that he's having issues clearing because he's running a 10.5 inch wheel. a factory wheel is what 16x6 with a 46mm offset right? somebody correct me if im wrong please because i dont want to give false info. a 10.5 wheel with an offset of 10mm has 21mm less clearance than factory and extends 93mm according to 10 10 tires offset calculator. I used to run 285-30-18's on my S13 240SX, they are wide for a 285 the majority of the time, actually closer to a 295. He has way less clearance, the 9.5 +15 has only 13mm less clearance than the 10.5 and extend 75mm further than factory.
